Gameweek Ten Preview: Graphical Aid

Once in a while every football fan deserves to lay in, and not have to worry about the sport of the rolling ball. Ten weeks into the new season, we like to call that period the international break, and we've already had two, and have one more coming up before the hecitc Christmas fixture list. For GW10, there's no early kick-off on Saturday, but that won't stop football and FPL fans waking up early doing last minute chances to their fifteen man squads. If you're one of those that'll be up at the crack of the dawn, on your phones debating captaincy or last minute additions, we've got you covered. Featured this week on our Graphical Aid is Bournemouth's dwindling FPL form, and as ever, our Weekly Wildcards.

Left-field thinking...

Each and every week on the Hype Train we attempt to unearth the beast FPL differentials. By no means are they always right, and neither do we claim divinity over our choices, but it's proven a more-than-useful exercise when thinking about what could potentially make your team stand out each week. The criteria is simple. A player must have less than 5% ownership to be counted as a 'wildcard' player.

For Gameweek 10, we've really had to roll our fingers around the bottom of the penny jar, but that's what good FPL players need to do in an age when you can no longer rely on heavy hitters from week to week.

Are Bournemouth set to struggle in the FPL?

Nine weeks into the 2015/16 BPL season and there’s a growing sense of sympathy around Bournemouth, even if the club don’t want it. A host of major injuries has hampered a decent start to life in their first top-flight season, whilst from an FPL point of view the attractiveness of the Cherries as squad options has dramatically dwindled. The Hype Train assess Bournemouth’s current struggle, the impact on injuries, and who we might turn to in our realm of fantasy.

Who should be first in line for GW10's captaincy?

The Fantasy Premier League has hit double digits of weeks played. With just under a quarter of the season already played, FPL players that pay attention to the climate of the game understand the trends and the hype. After six weeks of low-scoring point’s returns, the last 3-4 GW’s have provided higher average scores. At the forefront of thought every week is the question of who to captain. With Aguero injured for more than a month and last season’s star man Eden Hazard misfiring, The Hype Train examines the best captaincy options for Gameweek 10, as well as the risky wildcard options.

Who has joined the 'Hype Train'?

After a big win for Newcastle, their first of the season, against Norwich, it was the third consecutive FPL outing of success for Gini Wijnaldum. Arsenal's Hector Bellerin has performed in all but three games this season from a points point of view. Against Watford it was the tipping point for many managers to get on Bellerin's hype.

Any other FPL tips for GW10?

Like most, we're glad the international break is over. Injuries have ravaged the league. Hundreds of thousands will be drawn inro dropping points due to Sergio Aguero's injury whilst on duty with Argentina (we're blaming Messi for not being fit).

In the league, there's a few worthy notes that jump to mind.

Everton have a great record at home against Man United.

Spurs can't beat Liverpool.

Chelsea love playing Aston Villa at home.

Norwich have only ever won a single point at Newcastle.

Watford beat Arsenal at home the last time they were in the BPL.

Saido Berahino scored two goals at home to Sunderland last season.

Daniel Sturridge is almost assured of a striking birth against Spurs. Poor Ings. Poor Shaw. Poor Joe Gomez. It's been a bad month for English players.

What are we expecting to happen this weekend?

Roll a dice. We'd like to tell you, wouldn't that be nice. Reality has set hard that this season will throw in surprises every single week. Watch the reverse of everything above happen.

The transfer deadline is once again at the same time - Saturday 24th October at 11.45am (UK time). We've a bumper two days of football with a mega derby Sunday. United and City go head to head in a fixture that years years ago was a championship v relegation game. Newcastle also travel to a team they never beat - arch rivals Sunderland. The Hype Team will be around this weekend to provide live FPL coverage throughout the weekend over on our Twitter account - @RealHypeTrain - with live FPL score charts and updates from the Premier League.

Until then, muse over our Weekly Hype page, and we wish your teams the best for the upcoming GW9.
