FPL FORECAST 2016/17: Gameweek 13

Each and every week the three members of The Hype Team post their Premier League and FPL predictions in an attempt to enlighten players that might be stuck with their FPL choices and transfers. In addition, we’ll be taking on a guest for every Gameweek in the PL. On the weekly agenda are a general predictions category, a Gameweek Fantasy Premier League forecast, scout picks, and captaincy choices. For the opening weekend of the season, we welcome @FPLSWOT as our 13th guest. All aboard.

Fantasy Premier League: Gameweek 13 Deadline

For the 2016/17 Premier League season, the FPL deadline will be one hour before the commencement of the week's first game. The Premier League website lists each FPL deadline, you can always ask on social media, and you can also view a real time countdown on our Weekly Hype page.

In a change from last season, the early Saturday kick off time has now been moved back to 12:30am, meaning the weekly FPL deadline will also be moving 15 minutes back.

The transfer deadline for GW12 is Saturday November 26th at 11:30am

How does our Forecasting work?

We have taken to our Hype Team, and the FPL Community, to compete in a weekly head to head dual of wits. We are asking the questions that dominate each week in the Fantasy Premier League: who to pick, who to avoid, who to captain, and who may surprise. The 3 members of the Hype Team, and a Guest, will provide weekly insight for the Gameweek ahead. For the sake of the first edition of the Forecast, we have provided an example of what we're sending out to interest parties.

Premier League Fixture Prediction: As pundits, we are testing our football acumen with PL predictions (Mark Lawrenson style, only less biased, hopefully) and will be providing regular updated tables and stats in each edition of the FPL Forecast.A perfect score is worth 3 points whilst a correct result is worth 1 point.
FPL Gameweek Forecasting: Answering the regular questions that come up every single week in the Fantasy Premier League community that helps with identifying captaincy picks, transfers, attacking options, clean sheet potential, teams to look our for and avoid, the wildcard differential players, and general analysis and comments.
Scout Picks: Picking a squad of 15 for a single Gameweek, using the rules of the FPL - formations, captains and vice captains, and the player limits of 3 per club (chips will not be feature of these weekly picks)
Each team must pick a Captain, labelled as (c) and a Vice Captain listed as (vc).

Fixture Prediction: 2016/17 Points Table

Who would you Transfer In and Out for the Gameweek and beyond?:

IN: Liverpool midfielders, Liverpool defender, Arsenal defender, Arsenal midfielder, Southampton defender (if you feel risky for long term), Watford defender, and Gylfi Sigurdsson.

OUT: Spurs defenders, West Ham players, Stoke players, Bournemouth defenders, Sunderland attackers.

Who is the team to look out for?:

Liverpool: At home versus one of the worst defences in the Premier League, expect goals and perhaps another clean sheet.

Arsenal: They have never conceded to Bournemouth in their history, and they are at home. Both offensive and defensive assets are priority this gameweek.

Who is the team to avoid?:

Sunderland: Usually I am saying that they will be relegated, but the Black Cat’s got nothing going for them in this match. Could be one of those matches the supporters should avoid watching.

Spurs: All good things to come to an end?

Everton: Inconsistent team, you don’t know what you are getting from them.

Southampton: See above, also had time in the Europa League on Thursday.

West Ham: Having lost Winston Reid for this fixture they might be in real trouble.

GW Differential Picks:

Joel Matip: Liverpool have a legitimate chance of keeping a clean sheet in this match, they should dominate Sunderland in all aspects. Joel Matip has been really impressive and despite popular belief about Liverpool’s defending there are only three teams to concede few goals than Liverpool since the defender debuted: Chelsea, Spurs, and Arsenal.

Gylfi Sigurdsson: Midfield maestro in a struggling club, three returns in his last three matches is a good sign of things to come for the Icelander. The Swans welcome 2016’s worst team to the Liberty Stadium. Could be a big week for everyone involved at the club.

FPL Captaincy Pick:

Philippe Coutinho (C): The Brazilian has been in superb form and in what could be a goal fest the Reds could run away with this fixture. Sunderland’s defence is shaky and you can just imagine Coutinho causing them problems.

Sadio Mane (VC): The Senegalese forward has been at his best when under the new Main Stand at Anfield, he has returned every game with exception of the visit of Manchester United. Mane scored the fastest ever hatrick against Sunderland and could remind them of his goal scoring finesse.

Other Gameweek Comments:

I have no idea what the FPL is going to throw at us anymore, although believing in the wildcard options is paying off if you listen closely enough. This season is proving to be simple: assets from Chelsea, Liverpool, and Arsenal, then buffer with differential options.

Who is the team to look out for?:

West Ham - Playing good football, but not getting the results. That's a recipe for disaster against team like Man United.

Who is the team to avoid?:

Hull - The worst team by a long distance will struggle to break down WBA's defensive organisation. Foster and co should have it easy.

Sunderland - Liverpool away is a disastrous fixture for teams. It's crazy to think over 100,000 FPL managers have put in Sunderland forwards. They might not see the ball.

GW Differential Picks:

Sigurdsson - Swansea have a good run of fixtures, and Gylfi's potential from set pieces and pens should be taken into consideration for the long haul. Palace can't keep clean sheets to add to the value of the Gylf for the weekend.

Van Dijk - I've been impressed with Southampton and Virgil's defensive potential. Everton can be cuplable, and Virgil is on form and could mark Lukaku out of the game.

FPL Captaincy Pick:

(VC) Sergio Aguero - Even if potentially injured, Aguero's always goo for a goal. Not to be trifled with in fantasy teams.

Who would you Transfer In and Out for the Gameweek and beyond?:

IN: Gylfi Sigurdsson, Liverpool defenders and midfielders, Arsenal defenders, and Chelsea defenders.

OUT: If you're looking at getting rid of Aguero last minute. why not? Out of sorts unless the conditions are perfect. Really is a myth, despite being great on select occasions.

Who is the team to look out for?:

Everton: Liverpool are obvious, but Everton are the dark horses for the weekend. They routed Southampton at St Mary's last season to kick off he Barkley Hype Train. The potential is there to repeat the act. Don't write off Lukaku just yet.

Watford: My main man Holebas is back and Watford are looking a proper unit this seaon. They should, by their form, beat Stoke, and provide a few value points in the FPL.

Who is the team to avoid?:

Spurs: Last season the pair drew 2-2 in the game that decided the league for Leicester. New season though, and Spurs might struggle to break down Chelsea, unless they get a penalty...

Southampton: Europa League on Thursday. Lukaku visiting. I smell an upset at St Mary's.

Leicester: IT'S A TARP! Let's hope Leicester find some stability at home. Not banking on them this wek, but if they find their form again, I'll be over their fantasy options.

GW Differential Picks:

Marcos Alonso: Stil lowly owned, Alonso is usually the most furthest forward player in the Chelsea team. Looks dangerous and likely to score. Spurs could really struggled, even though they don't know how to lose in the league (yet).

Gylfi Sigurdsson: The big difference maker of the week is fully just

FPL Captaincy Pick:

Alexis Sanchez (C): I've gone against the grain of picking a Liverpool captain. Arsenal could stuff Bournemouth, and Sanchez could be the man of the hour yet again.

Sadio Mane (VC): Goals, goals, goals, at home. I fancy some explosive points from Liverpool's difference maker.

Other Gameweek Comments:

The choices are oh so obvious at this point, but last weekend proved you occasionally need to go with wildcard differentials to prop your team up. 6 of our selections from 10, just the once player from each game, performed. There's no luck in that. We also gambled on picking Defoe and Kane, ahead of other established names, to good results.

Consistent returns and favourable fixtures (GW13 vs Palace looks like a nailed-on return).

Hazard

If you haven't already (68% don't own the Belgian), I'd find a way to work him into your team. Playing in a system that allows minimal tracking and creative freedom, Hazard is flourishing. A home game against Spurs is one that, if last season's performance is anything to go by, he'll relish. GW15-19 also looks like a big opportunity.

Out - Lukaku

Consecutive blanks and a tough run ahead means his stock has fallen. His day will come again, but not in the short-term.

Allen

GW13 suspension coupled with the return of Bojan playing further forward means Allen is a far less enticing proposition than he was a few weeks ago.

Who is the team to look out for?:

Spurs - Still undefeated and going into December with their talisman back and firing, if they can escape Stamford Bridge with this record intact they have the potential for a strong position.

Who is the team to avoid?:

Palace - Woeful form and shipping goals. Lowest points return this year of all 92 league clubs. Soon to be without a manager?

GW Differential Picks:

Giroud (1.7%) 3 goals in 3 games. If he earns a start in GW13, expect another return.

Snodgrass (4.7%) On all set-plays and Hull's top scorer. If they find the net, the Scot is sure to be involved.

FPL Captaincy Pick:

Firmino vs Sunderland

Liverpool have scored 17 goals in 5 games at Anfield this season. With their plethora of attacking players, picking the top FPL points return can be a lottery at times however Firmino, playing as a false- nine, returned 15 points in their last home game. Despite Sunderland's clean sheet against Hull, the chances of another on Saturday are very slim. Also worth noting that he's started in that position for every game this season other than Chelsea away.

Other Gameweek Comments:

Nagging doubts over Agüero following his blank at Palace, though he could easily go crazy at Turf Moor - Man City are the highest scoring team away from home this season, though Burnley's strong home record requires caution. I'm sticking with him in my own side as he has such a high ceiling.
