FPL FORECAST 2016/17: Gameweek 27

Each and every week the three members of The Hype Team post their Premier League and FPL predictions in an attempt to enlighten players that might be stuck with their FPL choices and transfers. In addition, we’ll be taking on a guest for every Gameweek in the PL. On the weekly agenda are a general predictions category, a Gameweek Fantasy Premier League forecast, scout picks, and captaincy choices. For Gameweek 27, we welcome @fantasyxfactor as our next guest. All aboard.

Fantasy Premier League: Gameweek 27 Deadline

For the 2016/17 Premier League season, the FPL deadline will be one hour before the commencement of the week's first game. The Premier League website lists each FPL deadline, you can always ask on social media, and you can also view a real time countdown on our Weekly Hype page.

The transfer deadline for GW27 is Saturday 4th March 2017 at 11:30am.

How does our Forecasting work?

We have taken to our Hype Team, and the FPL Community, to compete in a weekly head to head dual of wits. We are asking the questions that dominate each week in the Fantasy Premier League: who to pick, who to avoid, who to captain, and who may surprise. The 3 members of the Hype Team, and a Guest, will provide weekly insight for the Gameweek ahead. For the sake of the first edition of the Forecast, we have provided an example of what we're sending out to interest parties.

  • Premier League Fixture Prediction: As pundits, we are testing our football acumen with PL predictions (Mark Lawrenson style, only less biased, hopefully) and will be providing regular updated tables and stats in each edition of the FPL Forecast.A perfect score is worth 3 points whilst a correct result is worth 1 point.

  • FPL Gameweek Forecasting: Answering the regular questions that come up every single week in the Fantasy Premier League community that helps with identifying captaincy picks, transfers, attacking options, clean sheet potential, teams to look our for and avoid, the wildcard differential players, and general analysis and comments.

  • Scout Picks: Picking a squad of 15 for a single Gameweek, using the rules of the FPL - formations, captains and vice captains, and the player limits of 3 per club (chips will not be feature of these weekly picks)

  • Each team must pick a Captain, labelled as (c) and a Vice Captain listed as (vc).

Fixture Prediction: 2016/17 Points Table

In our predictions a perfect score is 3 points, and predicting the right outcome is worth 1 point (aka if a team wins but, you predict it, but don't get the perfect score). Below is the Gameweek and overall rundown of our Premier League predictions series for the season.

Gameweek 27 Fixture Prediction

Man United 3-0 Bournemouth

Leicester 2-1 Hull

Stoke 2-0 Middlesbrough

Swansea 3-1 Burnley

Watford 1-2 Southampton

West Brom 2-1 Crystal Palace

Liverpool 3-2 Arsenal

Spurs 2-0 Everton

Sunderland 1-3 Man City

West Ham 1-3 Chelsea

Man City 2-1 Stoke

FPL Forecasting: Gameweek 27

Best GW Attacking Options:

Man United (H) vs. Bournemouth

Liverpool (H) vs. Arsenal

Chelsea (A) vs. West Ham

Swansea (H) vs. Burnley

Man City (A) vs. Sunderland

Best GW Defensive / Clean Sheet Potential:

Man United (H) vs. Bournemouth

Spurs (H) vs. Everton

Stoke (H) vs. Boro

Who would you Transfer In and Out for the Gameweek and beyond?:

IN: Sadio Mane, Gylfi Sigurdsson, Manolo Gabbiadini

OUT: Laurent Koscielny, Alexis Sanchez

Who are the teams to look out for?:

Man United: After their League Cup victory the holders of all three domestic competitions in England host a faltering Bournemouth who are getting worryingly close to the bottom half of the table, I don’t think they will get relegated, but the Red Devil’s beating them will put a bit of heat under the Cherries collective collars.

Man City: Two games in one week, both winnable fixtures.

Who are the teams to avoid?:

Arsenal: Away from home to Liverpool is a bad omen for Arsenal, especially because Liverpool haven’t lost to any of the top six so far this season. FPL assets from the Gunners will be at a premium gamble this gameweek.

Everton: A tough games versus Spurs is going to be a bitter pill to swallow after such a great run of form. This looks likely to be a low scoring encounter, I believe Spurs will edge it but this could halt the momentum of the Toffees.

GW Differential Picks:

Manolo Gabbiadini (SOU): Words cannot describe how happy Southampton fans are with their most recent acquisition from Napoli. Seeing his fluid movement and eye for goal you must consider why Napoli let him go in the first place. Watford aren’t defensively mighty and Southampton will want to end a heartbreak week for themselves with a win over the Hornets.

Christian Fuchs (LEI): A piece of wildcard royalty returns to my weekly wildcard selections, and with Hull at home this could be a defining fixture for Leicester this season. The Austrian has proved his worth against Liverpool and the Foxes who have emerged from their den should kick on and get a good result against the Tigers.

FPL Captaincy Picks:

(C): Zlatan Ibrahimovic

(VC): Gylfi Sigurdsson

Other Gameweek Comments:

Next week sees a reduced run of fixtures, so plan wisely and invest in Swansea and Liverpool players for GW28. Sigurdsson and Mane are popular picks.

Best GW Defensive / Clean Sheet Potential:

Manchester United (H) vs Bournemouth

West Brom (H) vs Crystal Palace

Who would you Transfer In and Out for the Gameweek and beyond?:

IN: Aguero (but with a big warning sign above his head), Ibrahimovic, Everton defenders, Sigurdsson, Antonio, Chadli, Brunt, Lukaku, Mane, Heaton

OUT: Snodgrass, Bournemouth players, Phillips (unless his condition changes)

Who are the teams to look out for?:

Stoke – Overlooked for the Gameweek, the squad have some good defensive options, especially in Lee Grant, who looks set to have a big Gameweek. Boro at hom could easily be a clean sheet.

Liverpool – The Reds always show up against the big boys, so expect another win at Anfield, to leave Arsenal Fan TV regulars frustrated.

Swansea – Paul Clement's side is filled with FPL potential, and a visit of Burnley is primed for points as the Clarets struggle away from home.

Who are the teams to avoid?:

Everton: With the Hurrikane in full force, it's best to leave your toffees at home.

Hull – Big game players for GW28, but Leicester are wildcards and the game could easily go in the Champions favour.

Bournemouth – Avoid the Cherries at all costs this Gameweek, and next, even though they entertain West Ham. They are in free fall, and this patch of bad form looks long lasting.

GW Differential Picks:

Nacer Chadli (WBA) – Chadli's the man again at West Brom and could have another big week.

Lee Grant (STK) - The Stoke keeper is playing twice, which means a lot of save points, and good clean sheet potential against Boro at home.

FPL Captaincy Picks:

(C) Zlatan Ibrahimovic (MUN) - Zlatan has the potential to have a bigger Gameweek against Bournemouth than Aguero does against two opponents.

(VC) Sergio Aguero (MCI) - Aguero makes the list, but I'm not captaining the Argentine forward. See below why.

Other Gameweek Comments:

Below are my thoughts about Man City and a potential headache with captaining Sergio Aguero.

Are there downsides to an Aguero Double Gamewek Captaincy?

Rotation:

Man City are playing 2 games a week, and Pep isn't afraid to rotate Aguero. City have a wealth of options and might want to keep Aguero fresh for their trip to Monaco. So Kelechi Iheanacho could see minutes, or they could start with Sterling up top.

Points Deductions:

If you've already got motions rolling for the 4 game GW28, Aguero and City players might not be an option. If you put in Aguero, you might have to lose points the following week to have a competitve team, in which case you are probably best off writing off GW27 as a Double Gameweek. City don't play in GW28 which creates automatic problems with longevity.

Man City's Fixtures:

After Sunderland (a) & Stoke (h) for Man City, they do not play in DGW28 and then play Liverpool (h), Arsenal (a), and Chelsea (a), so Aguero's inclusion will have to be a blip.

Aguero's Falling FPL Stock:

Aguero might be well placed for GW27 this season, but in general it's been a season to forget for the Argentine. Major rotation, playing in a slightly different role, frustrated at his selection, outperformed by Gabriel Jesus, and mightily expensive in the FPL. Aguero has proven to be a liability more often than he is an FPL hero this season. GW8 tops the charts for low moments, when he was benched against Everton, then came on to miss a penalty.

Aguero only has 1 goal since GW14, regardless of injury and minutes played, that form is not trustworthy heading into two crucual games.

Gameweek 28's Influence:

Man City do not offer anything towards GW28, so Aguero or Sterling could lead to future selection problems. Also it might be a DGW, but the GW28 players will even out the scores over the course of two Gameweek's.

This is also of course the first DGW of the seaon, and perhaps the most cautious. Shoehorned just before the much shorter GW28, there are greater horizons to be had with Double Gameweek picks, and that includes players who are thinking that a Triple Captaincy chip is worth an inclusion.

Other Forwards in Form:

You might not need two games to get the job done if you have an in-form Harry Kane, Zlatan at home to Bournemouth, or a goal hungry Liverpool midfielder at home to Arsenal. Aguero's a great Gameweek option, but the alleviation of pressure might come from somebody already in your squad.

Are there any DGW alternatives?:

We'd prefer a move for Leroy Sane, Raheem Sterling, John Stones, or perhaps Peter Crouch if you're feeling risky. Crouch might be a good option as he is already a cheap FPL alternative.

IN: Aguero (if cost effective), Ibrahimovic, Sterling, Coleman, Gabbiadini, Stones

OUT: Antonio, Snodgrass, Phillips, Holebas, Eriksen, Amat, Liverpool

Who are the teams to look out for?:

Leicester – players sadly trying to prove a point now

West Brom – scrappy team could leapfrog some big clubs in the table

Chelsea – ready to use easy upcoming fixtures to clinch the PL title

Who are the teams to avoid?:

Liverpool – rough stretch of fixtures coming up and team seems to be unravelling

Bournemouth – leaking goals at an alarming rate

Crystal Palace – schedule starting GW 30 is murder

GW Differential Picks:

David Silva (MCI) – he’s been playing at a high level, even though his FPL returns haven’t reflected it. City earned a DGW27 and Silva could be a massive differential at just 2.2% ownership.

(C): Sergio Aguero
