FPL FORECAST 2016/17: Gameweek 28

Each and every week the three members of The Hype Team post their Premier League and FPL predictions in an attempt to enlighten players that might be stuck with their FPL choices and transfers. In addition, we’ll be taking on a guest for every Gameweek in the PL. On the weekly agenda are a general predictions category, a Gameweek Fantasy Premier League forecast, scout picks, and captaincy choices. For Gameweek 28, we welcome @AUSFPL as our next guests, with a repeat of our GW2 Forecast on the cards. All aboard.

Fantasy Premier League: Gameweek 28 Deadline

For the 2016/17 Premier League season, the FPL deadline will be one hour before the commencement of the week's first game. The Premier League website lists each FPL deadline, you can always ask on social media, and you can also view a real time countdown on our Weekly Hype page.

The transfer deadline for GW28 is Saturday 11th March 2017 at 14:00pm.

How does our Forecasting work?

We have taken to our Hype Team, and the FPL Community, to compete in a weekly head to head dual of wits. We are asking the questions that dominate each week in the Fantasy Premier League: who to pick, who to avoid, who to captain, and who may surprise. The 3 members of the Hype Team, and a Guest, will provide weekly insight for the Gameweek ahead. For the sake of the first edition of the Forecast, we have provided an example of what we're sending out to interest parties.

  • Premier League Fixture Prediction: As pundits, we are testing our football acumen with PL predictions (Mark Lawrenson style, only less biased, hopefully) and will be providing regular updated tables and stats in each edition of the FPL Forecast.A perfect score is worth 3 points whilst a correct result is worth 1 point.

  • FPL Gameweek Forecasting: Answering the regular questions that come up every single week in the Fantasy Premier League community that helps with identifying captaincy picks, transfers, attacking options, clean sheet potential, teams to look our for and avoid, the wildcard differential players, and general analysis and comments.

  • Scout Picks: Picking a squad of 15 for a single Gameweek, using the rules of the FPL - formations, captains and vice captains, and the player limits of 3 per club (chips will not be feature of these weekly picks)

  • Each team must pick a Captain, labelled as (c) and a Vice Captain listed as (vc).

Fixture Prediction: 2016/17 Points Table

In our predictions a perfect score is 3 points, and predicting the right outcome is worth 1 point (aka if a team wins but, you predict it, but don't get the perfect score). Below is the Gameweek and overall rundown of our Premier League predictions series for the season.

Gameweek 28 Fixture Prediction

Bournemouth 2-2 West Ham

Everton 2-0 West Brom

Hull 1-3 Swansea

Liverpool 4-1 Burnley

FPL Forecasting: Gameweek 28

Best GW Attacking Options:

BOU (H) vs. West Ham

EVE (H) vs. West Brom

SWA (A) vs. Hull City

LIV (H) vs. Burnley

Best GW Defensive / Clean Sheet Potential:

EVE (H) vs. West Brom

Who would you Transfer In and Out for the Gameweek and beyond?:

IN: Mane, Sigurdsson, Llorente, Clyne

OUT: Ibrahimovic, Sanchez, Alli, Koscielny

Who are the teams to look out for?:

Liverpool: Despite popular belief that Liverpool struggle against the teams from the bottom half of the table this could be an intriguing encounter due to Burnley’s poor away record. The Claret’s did beat Liverpool early on in the season, but surely they can’t do the double on the Reds?

Everton: The Baggies who visit Goodison Park this weekend are starting their end of season slip, just like they did last season, and that before. They looked clueless against Crystal Palace, and now they go to a high performing Everton where they will be really tested against the threat of Romelu Lukaku.

Swansea: On some next level form and surely if they continue they will remain a Premier League side, and with Hull now conceding goals again the guile of Gylfi Sigurdsson is going to hurt them.

Who are the teams to avoid?:

West Brom: Read my notes on Everton, above.

West Ham: For some reason this encounter with Bournemouth

GW Differential Picks:

Joel Robles (EVE): Could be an easy clean sheet on the horizon for the Spaniard against a faltering West Brom team.

Gini Wijnaldum (LIV): Five consecutive returns at Anfield for the Dutchman, and I tempt fate by asking for a sixth in a row.

FPL Captaincy Picks:

(C) Sadio Mane: The Senegalese speedster is the man at Liverpool, and last time out against Burnley the Reds couldn’t pick him due to an injury. Will be tearing up that right flank with Clyne all match. This match should be a different affair with the hunt for Champions League football on the horizon.

(VC) Romelu Lukaku: The Belgian is scoring goals, although this may be the case he needs the service to do so. Mane’s goals come from many tactical situations whereas Lukaku needs to be fed. As much as I rate Lukaku I think Mane is the more sensible option this week.

Other Gameweek Comments:

Good luck if you have barely any players for this gameweek and Zlatan now banned, just for the love of god don’t play your wildcard for the sake of this week. Don’t shoot your nose off to spite your face, FPL speaking that is.

Gameweek 28 Fixture Prediction

Bournemouth 1-1 West Ham

Everton 2-0 West Brom

Hull 2-3 Swansea

Burnley 1-2 Liverpool

FPL Forecasting: Gameweek 28

Best GW Attacking Options:

Everton and Liverpool, Swansea are also in good goal scoring form that should continue.

Best GW Defensive / Clean Sheet Potential:

No obvious picks this week. If I had to pick one it has to be Everton at West Brom. Having Phillips sidelined severely dents their goal threat.

Who would you Transfer In and Out for the Gameweek and beyond?:

IN: Mane, Lukaku, Lanzini.

OUT: Aguero (his FPL season is over).

GW Differential Picks:

Kamil Grosicki (HUL): Proving to be a creative talisman that is capable of beating any defender one on one. Also has a tasty delivery to be utilised.

Oumar Niasse (HUL): Might not start but has been handful when he does. Could be his chance to secure a starting role in the side.

FPL Captaincy Picks:

(C): Romelu Lukaku

(VC): Sadio Mane

Other Gameweek Comments:

Having 7/8/9 players is fairly standard for this BGW so don’t panic. Captaincy choice is often far more important than the number of players. Go for quality, not quantity.

Gameweek 28 Fixture Prediction

Bournemouth 1-2 West Ham

Everton 2-0 West Brom

Hull 2-2 Swansea

Liverpool 3-0 Burnley

FPL Forecasting: Gameweek 28

Best GW Attacking Options:

Liverpool (H) vs. Burnley

Everton (H) vs. West Brom

Swansea (a) vs. Burnley

Best GW Defensive / Clean Sheet Potential:

Liverpool (H) vs. Burnley

Everton (H) vs. West Brom

Who would you Transfer In and Out for the Gameweek and beyond?:

IN:

Nathaniel Clyne (good fixtures upcoming until end of season, including Man City away)

Chris Brunt (attacking returns)

Harry Kane (for the future of course)

Sadio Mane (an essential for Liverpool and a player to keep until the end of the season)

Joel Robles (cheap, good returns, with two home games)

OUT:

Man City players (all of them)

Tom Heaton (points are slowly drying up. Best to get rid of during GW29)

Zlatan Ibrahimovic (Obvious as he’s suspended. No better time for a straight swap to Kane)

Who are the teams to look out for?:

Swansea: The Swans are on fire and have good attacking potential. Hull are also finding the net a lot, so a score draw could happen, but with good potential for Sigurdsson, Llorente, and Grosicki.

Bournemouth: You never know what to expect from Bournemouth as they’re able to turn on the heat when they wish. This week could be one to savour for the Cherries.

West Ham: The London side look comfortable against lower rank opposition, so I’m expecting them to heap pressure on Bournemouth. The narrowly beat Bournemouth at home, and have improved since then.

Who are the teams to avoid?:

West Brom: Everton have been on form at home, and it seems the right time to play The Baggies after a defeat to Crystal Palace.

Burnley: There won’t be a repeat of the 2-0 victory against Liverpool this time. Heaton still might be worth a few points, but if you have Jakupovic, he’s worth a start.

GW Differential Picks:

Manuel Lanzini (WHU): Can’t afford him myself, but looks the business at the moment after living in the shadows for so long. Price might be the only deterrence as he’ll likely have to exist as a 5th midfielder.

Joel Robles (EVE): Affordable with 2 clean sheets in hi last 5, Everton are in top form and might shut the door against West Brom.

FPL Captaincy Picks:

(C): Sadio Mane (Liverpool) – Massive points at home, at the top of his game, Mane is the man, and might be relied upon even more with Firmino a doubt.

(VC): Romelu Lukaku (Everton) – Everton have a tricky fixture in the sense that West Brom are a hard side to break down and don’t usually concede more than 2 on a bad day, but Everton do have a good record against the Baggies. Lukaku as ever is well placed to be a standout performer for GW28.

Other Gameweek Comments:

This week speaks for itself, but if you’ve already played your wildcard, now is the time to plan for your Double Gameweek players. Arsenal, United, Chelsea, Liverpool, City, and Southampton, among others, feature, so start planning if you need too.
