FPL FORECAST 2016/17: Gameweek 29

Each and every week the three members of The Hype Team post their Premier League and FPL predictions in an attempt to enlighten players that might be stuck with their FPL choices and transfers. In addition, we’ll be taking on a guest for every Gameweek in the PL. On the weekly agenda are a general predictions category, a Gameweek Fantasy Premier League forecast, scout picks, and captaincy choices. For Gameweek 29 we welcome FPL Guidance (@tips_fpl) as our next guest. All aboard.

Fantasy Premier League: Gameweek 28 Deadline

For the 2016/17 Premier League season, the FPL deadline will be one hour before the commencement of the week's first game. The Premier League website lists each FPL deadline, you can always ask on social media, and you can also view a real time countdown on our Weekly Hype page.

The transfer deadline for GW28 is Saturday 18th March 2017 at 11:30am.

How does our Forecasting work?

We have taken to our Hype Team, and the FPL Community, to compete in a weekly head to head dual of wits. We are asking the questions that dominate each week in the Fantasy Premier League: who to pick, who to avoid, who to captain, and who may surprise. The 3 members of the Hype Team, and a Guest, will provide weekly insight for the Gameweek ahead. For the sake of the first edition of the Forecast, we have provided an example of what we're sending out to interest parties.

  • Premier League Fixture Prediction: As pundits, we are testing our football acumen with PL predictions (Mark Lawrenson style, only less biased, hopefully) and will be providing regular updated tables and stats in each edition of the FPL Forecast.A perfect score is worth 3 points whilst a correct result is worth 1 point.

  • FPL Gameweek Forecasting: Answering the regular questions that come up every single week in the Fantasy Premier League community that helps with identifying captaincy picks, transfers, attacking options, clean sheet potential, teams to look our for and avoid, the wildcard differential players, and general analysis and comments.

  • Scout Picks: Picking a squad of 15 for a single Gameweek, using the rules of the FPL - formations, captains and vice captains, and the player limits of 3 per club (chips will not be feature of these weekly picks)

  • Each team must pick a Captain, labelled as (c) and a Vice Captain listed as (vc).

Fixture Prediction: 2016/17 Points Table

In our predictions a perfect score is 3 points, and predicting the right outcome is worth 1 point (aka if a team wins but, you predict it, but don't get the perfect score). Below is the Gameweek and overall rundown of our Premier League predictions series for the season.

Gameweek 29 Fixture Prediction

West Brom 0-3 Arsenal

Crystal Palace 2-1 Watford

Everton 4-0 Hull

Stoke 0-3 Chelsea

Sunderland 0-1 Burnley

West Ham 2-2 Leicester

Bournemouth 2-2 Swansea

Middlesbrough 0-2 Man United

Spurs 1-1 Southampton

Man City 1-4 Liverpool

FPL Forecasting: Gameweek 29

Best GW Attacking Options:

Liverpool (A) vs. Man City

Everton (H) vs. Hull City

Arsenal (A) vs. West Brom

Spurs (H) vs. Southampton

Best GW Defensive / Clean Sheet Potential:

Everton (H) vs. Hull City

Arsenal (A) vs. West Brom

Chelsea (A) vs. Stoke City

Who would you Transfer In and Out for the Gameweek and beyond?:

IN: Troy Deeney, Sadio Mane, Diego Costa.

OUT: Negredo, Ozil/Sanchez, Harry Kane.

Who are the teams to look out for?:

Liverpool: Wreck Man City each time they play them, so bank on them.

Southampton: You know what, without Harry Kane in the Spurs eleven it could be hard for the North London club to breach the Saints. Claude Puel has an in-form striker of his own to call upon who isn’t, the maverick Manolo Gabbiadini, and there is a real sense of communion within the team. Spurs could have a right battle on their hands, after all the Saints won at White Hart Lane last season after Leicester won the league.

Who are the teams to avoid?:

Man City: Get wrecked consistently by Liverpool, so avoid at all costs.

Sunderland: The temptation to bank on Defoe this week is high, but in this current state of affairs for Sunderland I can see Burnley finally winning their first Premier League away game of the season.

GW Differential Picks:

Joshua King (BOU): How can you not consider King after his incredible run of form?

Joel Robles (EVE): My main pick of recent weeks has been that of Joel Robles, the Spaniard who has come into goal for Everton. Seven clean sheets in his last eleven matches (even an assist to his name too!) has seen his stock rise considerably. Expect an eight from twelve once the match with Hull is done with.

FPL Captaincy Picks:

(C): Romelu Lukaku: Despite his contract standoff with Everton he’ll play, Koeman would be stupid not to start him against Hull City who don’t know what a clean sheet it.

(VC): Sadio Mane: Lukaku has the easier of the games, but it completes the flip-reverse of my captaincy options last week. Mane should have a lot of time to run at City’s woeful defence, they should feel even worse after being knocked out of the Champions League too.

Other Gameweek Comments:

Nothing else to say, just seem like there are going to be a lot of certain results and then half the fixtures are 50-50 clashes. Teams are starting to shut up now so expect quite a few clean sheets and tight affairs.

OUT: Kane, Ibrahimovic, Aguero, De Bruyne, Brunt.

FPL Captaincy Picks:

(C): Romelu Lukaku: If the big man doesn’t put on a show here it will be a disappointment to over half the FPL that are likely to captain him. Big risk to go against the grain here.

(VC): Diego Costa: If you’re willing to take that risk, Costa is your man. Mr.Consistent is a reliable source of points, however with only three double figure returns, a game changing haul isn’t likely.

FPL Captaincy Picks:

(C) Romelu Lukaku: For the sake of keeping pace, Lukaku is a must this week. His home form currently speaks volumes, even if he's refused a contract extension.

(VC) Eden Hazard: As seen in my Captaincy article, Hazard has the potential to unlock any door, and is the driving force to Chelsea. He's on an upturn of FPL form and could do what Man City couldn't do; break Stoke down.
