FPL FORECAST 2016/17: Gameweek 36

Each and every week the three members of The Hype Team post their Premier League and FPL predictions in an attempt to enlighten players that might be stuck with their FPL choices and transfers. In addition, we’ll be taking on a guest for every Gameweek in the PL. On the weekly agenda are a general predictions category, a Gameweek Fantasy Premier League forecast, scout picks, and captaincy choices. For Gameweek 36 we welcome @FPL_UTD as our next guest. All aboard.

Fantasy Premier League: Deadline for Gameweek's 36, 37, & 38

For the 2016/17 Premier League season, the FPL deadline will be one hour before the commencement of the week's first game. The Premier League website lists each FPL deadline, you can always ask on social media, and you can also view a real time countdown on our Weekly Hype page.

The transfer deadline for GW36 is Friday 5th May 2017 at 19:00pm.

The transfer deadline for GW37 is Friday 12th May 2017 at 18:45pm.

The transfer deadline for GW38 is Sunday 21st May 2017 at 14:00pm.

How does our Forecasting work?

We have taken to our Hype Team, and the FPL Community, to compete in a weekly head to head dual of wits. We are asking the questions that dominate each week in the Fantasy Premier League: who to pick, who to avoid, who to captain, and who may surprise. The 3 members of the Hype Team, and a Guest, will provide weekly insight for the Gameweek ahead. For the sake of the first edition of the Forecast, we have provided an example of what we're sending out to interest parties.

  • Premier League Fixture Prediction: As pundits, we are testing our football acumen with PL predictions (Mark Lawrenson style, only less biased, hopefully) and will be providing regular updated tables and stats in each edition of the FPL Forecast.A perfect score is worth 3 points whilst a correct result is worth 1 point.

  • FPL Gameweek Forecasting: Answering the regular questions that come up every single week in the Fantasy Premier League community that helps with identifying captaincy picks, transfers, attacking options, clean sheet potential, teams to look our for and avoid, the wildcard differential players, and general analysis and comments.

  • Scout Picks: Picking a squad of 15 for a single Gameweek, using the rules of the FPL - formations, captains and vice captains, and the player limits of 3 per club (chips will not be feature of these weekly picks)

  • Each team must pick a Captain, labelled as (c) and a Vice Captain listed as (vc).

Fixture Prediction: 2016/17 Points Table

In our predictions a perfect score is 3 points, and predicting the right outcome is worth 1 point (aka if a team wins but, you predict it, but don't get the perfect score). Below is the Gameweek and overall rundown of our Premier League predictions series for the season.

Gameweek 36 Fixture Prediction

West Ham 0-3 Spurs Man City 3-1 Crystal Palace Bournemouth 2-0 Stoke City Burnley 1-0 West Brom Hull City 3-0 Sunderland Leicester 2-0 Watford Swansea 1-3 Everton Liverpool 2-1 Southampton Arsenal 1-0 Man United Chelsea 4-0 Middlesbrough Southampton 1-1 Arsenal

FPL Forecasting: Gameweek 36

Who would you Transfer In and Out for the Gameweek and beyond?

IN: Ryan Bertrand, Josh King, Gabriel Jesus. OUT: Nathaniel Clyne, Wilfried Zaha, Sergio Aguero. My transfers in and out make sense because you actually save money and prepare for the double gameweek in style by putting faith into players who will be doubling up their fixture lists.

FPL Captaincy Picks:

Captain (C) - Alexis Sanchez: The Chilean is in a double gameweek, he is Arsenal's best player. Doesn't really need an explanation because he is the hot property this week, and with Man United playing a Europa League game they will be stretched and potentially prone to a salvo from the Arsenal forward line. Vice-Captain (VC) - Romelu Lukaku: People are dropping the Belgian from their fantasy teams due to the upcoming double gameweeks but they are foolishly doing so, the top scorer of the Premier League travels to Swansea where he is surely going to be a big player in the gameweek. His presence and form could be a huge factor in determining if Swansea are left in a perilous situation at the end of the gameweek, something I believe is going to happen after Hull beat Sunderland.

Who would you Transfer In and Out for the Gameweek and beyond?

Instead of ins and outs, here's a list of players who should be in contention.

DGW Players to have or not to have?:

Chelsea - Alonso, Hazard, Costa (essential, have to have the three)

Spurs - Verthongen, Alli, Kane (also essential)

Man City - Cabalerro, Jesus (a very big maybe here)

Arsenal - Cech, Koscielny, Sanchez

Southampton - Stephens, Yoshida, Romeu (for budget reasons)

Leicester - Schmeichel, Fuchs, Vardy

Sunderland - Pickford, Anichebe (for budget options)

Watford - Absolutely no one

West Brom - I forgot they were part of the DGW, so probably best to just not bother

Man United - Rotation, rotation, rotation. Your head will be a spin. Avoid like the plague unless you're a big fan of de Gea, who is the only credible mention, but comes at a greater cost than oter GK's.

Who are the teams to look out for?

Chelsea – Boro are coming to the Bridge at the worst time of the season. A big win is expected and Costa is the man to look out for.

Bournemouth – Josh Kingi is finally in my FPL team, 10 weeks too late, and the damage has been done. Never too late to jump on the hype train though, right?

Hull – Relegated teams usually pose a threat as they just play for the fun on if, but Sunderland are that bad I don't expect them to beat Hull 4-0, something they did to palace a while back. Marco Silva should see Hull up, which is a shame as I really like Paul Clement.

Leicester – The Foxes look in good form heading into GW37 and will pose a threat to any team between now and the end of the season. Title challenge next season?

Who are the teams to avoid?:

Stoke/West Brom – Both teams are well and truly on the beach and are on terrible form. After reaching the 40+ points target they have really struggled.

Crystal Palace – They didn’t look interested on Saturday and were easily beaten by Burnley, who finally grabbed their first away win of the season!! With a tough fixture away at Man City I can’t see them doing much this weekend.

FPL Captaincy Picks:

(C): Alexis Sanchez - Captain Obvious is playing twice, and even if he doesn't return, you won't be able to sleep at night knowing that all of your mates have him as captain. Best to keep it simple if you're wildcarding.

(VC): Diego Costa - Was the difference the last time out against Boro and I have resisted the urge to drop him in favour of Jesus due to 3 home games out of 4 against poor opposition. Best forward in the league on his day, and a deserving title winner, could have his best FPL days ahead of him, and maybe his last. Just needs to cut out the nasty side of his game.

Who would you Transfer In and Out for the Gameweek and beyond?

Like myself, there’s going to be a huge amount of FPL managers using their wildcard in GW36 and filling their teams with DGW players. I’ve chosen a few that I like going forward:

IN:

Hazard, Alonso, Jesus & King.

Arsenal & Southampton both have two fixtures in GW36 and can’t be ignored. Sanchez has the potential do anything but hasn’t been great lately, Gabriel is a great option at 4.8 but is a rotation risk so Monreal might be the guy to go for! Southampton don’t really fill me with joy as their playing Liverpool/Arsenal but Gabbiadini could be worth a punt and possibly one of their budget defenders too.

OUT:

Lukaku – Big Rom has been fantastic this season but Everton have been poor lately and don’t have a double gameweek.

Benteke – Looked awful against Burnley and picked up yet another booking. Despite the points haul in GW34 it’s time to get rid.

Valencia/Walker - Both have become huge rotation risks recently and at their price it’s probably time to get rid.

Who are the teams to look out for?

Chelsea – Despite the small blip I think Chelsea are going to walk the title now. They looked unstoppable against Everton this weekend and I can’t see Boro doing much at Stamford Bridge.

Bournemouth – Great form/fixtures, Josh King can’t stop scoring and despite not having two fixtures in GW37 they just look great!

Hull – These guys are fighting for survival, Marco Silva has done a fantastic job and they look like they could stay up. Their brilliant home form should see them beat an already-relegated Sunderland side this weekend.

Man City – Despite not picking up maximum points last weekend I think they’re going to finish the season well. Great fixtures and with Jesus back in the side anything can happen.

GW Differential Picks:

Gabriel Jesus – The kid looks like a serious player and Pep loves him. Disallowed goal against Man Utd followed by a goal against Middlesbrough on his return from injury. With Aguero possibly out injured he could lead the line against Palace this weekend.

Mesut Ozil – Makes the game look so easy at times yet he hasn’t hit the same heights of last season. His form has picked up lately and with two upcoming fixtures in GW36 he could be the man to fire you up the ranks!
