FANTASY FORECAST 2018/19: FPL Gameweek 29

Ahead of each Gameweek in the Fantasy Premier League, The Hype Train invites a special guest onto its Fantasy Forecast, where the three members of the Hype Team and its Special Guests will duel for FPL supremacy in predicting Premier League scores, as well as going head to head in picking a Scout Picks squad for the relevant Gameweek. In addition, we give our insight into who are the players to watch and those to drop, both for traditional FPL leagues and the Draft mode, as well as providing insight into captaincy picks, differentials for the week, and more. Welcome to the Forecast. All aboard.

Fantasy Premier League: Gameweek 29 Deadline

For the 2016/17 Premier League season, the FPL deadline will be one hour before the commencement of the week's first game. The Premier League website lists each FPL deadline, you can always ask on social media, and you can also view a real time countdown on our Weekly Hype page.

How does our Forecasting work?

We have taken to our Hype Team, and the FPL Community, to compete in a weekly head to head dual of wits. We ask the questions that dominate each week in the Fantasy Premier League: who to pick, who to avoid, who to captain, and who may surprise. The three members of the Hype Team, and a Guest, will provide weekly insight for the Gameweek ahead.

For the sake of respecting the rules of the Forecast, we have provided an example of what we're sending out to interested parties that will feature throughout the season.

  • Premier League Fixture Prediction: As pundits, we are testing our football acumen with PL predictions and will be providing regular updated tables and stats in each edition of the FPL Forecast. A perfect score is worth 3 points whilst a correct result is worth 1 point.

  • FPL Gameweek Forecasting: Answering the regular questions that come up every single week in the Fantasy Premier League community that helps with identifying captaincy picks, transfers, attacking options, clean sheet potential, teams to look our for and avoid, players to consider for the Draft game, the wildcard differential players, as well as general analysis and comments.

  • Scout Picks: Picking a squad of 15 for a single Gameweek, without any budget, using the rules of the FPL - formations, captains and vice captains, and the player limits of 3 per club (chips will not be feature of these weekly picks)

  • Each team must pick a Captain, labelled as (c) and a Vice Captain listed as (vc).

FPL Forecasting: Gameweek 29

Best GW Attacking Options:

Man United (H) vs. Southampton

Chelsea (A) vs. Fulham

Everton (H) vs. Liverpool

Best GW Defensive / Clean Sheet Potential:

Man United (H) vs. Southampton

Chelsea (A) vs. Fulham

Everton (H) vs. Liverpool

Who are your essential Gameweek player picks?:

Eden Hazard is better than Mohamad Salah. That is a stone-cold fact.

Paul Pogba is better than Ronaldinho and Gerrard, combined.

Who are the players that might make the difference this Gameweek in the Draft?:

Everton players, they are going to tear into Liverpool this week. Digne is going to outshine that flop Salah (who isn’t as good as Hazard, FYI), Keane is going to boss Mane, and if Origi plays Coleman is going to run him off the pitch and Thanos his playing career after the tragic events at Anfield in December when he scored an illegal goal.

Who are the teams to look out for?:

Manchester United: Pogba is going to run Southampton back to the Championship this weekend, they may as well never turn up again after the hammering they will receive from the World Cup winning legend.

Chelsea: The Blues are going to remind Ryan Babel, the former Red, that he is a small-time player who is playing for a small-time club. Eden Hazard is going to score a hat-trick and then remind the world that he is superior to Mohamad Salah.

Everton: The best team in Merseyside will rightfully take the crown back when the Red bin-dippers visit the Goodison fortress. Marco Silva is going to tap into his Portuguese bloodline and run down the touchline after Henderson slips and Tosun goes through one-on-one with Alisson to condemn the Reds title challenge to failure.

Who are the teams to avoid?:

Liverpool: Time for revenge and slips is now. After Origi robbed Everton of a result at Anfield, the comeuppances are going to hit the Reds right in the face of the Floppmeister. After decimating FC Real Cardifflona the Toffees are primed for their best Premier League performance.

Man City: Still without Fernandinho, they also aren’t the biggest club in Manchester.

GW Differential Picks:

Luke Shaw is an amazing left back and is guaranteed a return against Liverpool B.

Gonzalo Higuain is also going to set the world alight when linking up with the third best player in the world, Eden Hazard.

FPL Captaincy Picks:

(C): Eden Hazard – Better than Salah.

(VC): Paul Pogba – Better than Salah and will also remind Liverpool B who the real powerhouse in England is.

Other Gameweek Comments:

Hazard > Salah

Pogba > Gerrard

Rashford > Firmino

Martial > Mane

De Gea > Alisson

Best GW Attacking Options:

Wolves (H) vs. Cardiff

Newcastle (a) vs. West Ham

Best GW Defensive / Clean Sheet Potential:

Burnley, Palace, Man United, Wolves, Newcastle, Watford and Liverpool

Who are your essential Gameweek player picks?:

Key assets: Pogba, Jimenez, Aguero, Robertson

Ones to watch: Deulofeu, Son, Murray, Higuain

Who are the teams to look out for?:

Manchester United: Rashford + Pogba are back. You know the rest by now.

Newcastle: Fabian Schar. Martin Dubravka. Sean Longstaff. Salomon Rondon. Miguel Almiron. Ayoze Perez. Jamaal Lascelles. DeAndre Yedlin... Name a better group of in-form players right now....

Who are the teams to avoid?:

West Ham: Trying to play like a 'big team' only gets you so far in the Premier League when playing a team like Newcastle. Rafa's men are in a good vein of form, playing really nice football. If there is one statement fixture this weekend, then this is it.

Chelsea: Hold fire on Gameweek 31 options until it is closer to the time. Fulham are an unknown variable, even if they're a little bit terrible.

FPL Captaincy Picks:

(C): Paul Pogba – Like a lot of Fantasy players this season, I've lost the ability to think for myself when it comes to picking a captain due to the nature of overwhelming favourites each and every week. Pogba is the flavour of the week, so I guess it's the Frenchman this week.

(VC): Raul Jimenez – One last hurrah for Jimenez before his probably transfer exodus? Also, see above.

Other Gameweek Comments:

Liverpool are so close to the title. A win at Everton is a massive hurdle.

Also, please read my comments on West Ham above.
