Weekly Differentials (GW24)

And we’re back after less than two days, and it is the first Double Gameweek of the season that features Liverpool due to their Club World Cup success. Everyone will be scrambling to get three Liverpool players into their teams, and this means the power of differentials is heightened in a Gameweek when the leagues best team plays twice.

Last week we even broke the Neal Maupay captaincy curse when he assisted Leandro Trossard. We return to provide some differentials that might be needed to pad out your team this week, and one Liverpool player who could be an affordable and sensible addition to your fantasy teams.

GW24: Differential Highlights

Mason Holgate (EVERTON vs. Newcastle):

The young Englishman has been in great form since he came into the Everton team, and Ancelloti has a decent defender on his hands. Surprisingly, Holgate has four returns in his last six games, and with injury-stricken Newcastle visiting Goodison Park it could be five from seven. Newcastle really struggle to make chances for their strikers, so luck is in favour of the Toffees in this fixture.

Cenk Tosun (CRYSTAL PALACE vs. Southampton):

Well, well, well. Who would believe it, an Everton loanee taking points off Liverpool’s main title rival, you couldn’t make it up! Cenk Tosun is a perfect fit for the Eagles, and his presence in the air can hurt Southampton who were shellshocked by Wolves at the weekend. Tosun appears a man unshackled, and with Palace’s run of games it is a very tempting option for the next dozen games.

Dennis Praet (LEICESTER vs. West Ham):

A surprise starter in the recent weeks, and in two starts Praet has two consecutive games of FPL returns. Leicester host the ‘serial winner’ David Moyes, and even as boots quake in even hearing his name, the Belgian has the form going into the fixture.

BOU/BHA: Leandro Trossard (BHA, MID, £5.8mil, 0.5% ownership)

Key Differential: Joe Gomez (LIV)

This one in easy, and we don’t even have to give you the hard sell to convince you that Joe Gomez would be a great differential option for your teams ahead of Liverpool’s Double Gameweek. Whilst Salah, Mane, and Trent are viable captaincy options, Gomez is the best differential option ahead of GW24. Liverpool aren’t rotating their winning team which most likely means that Liverpool’s defence is most likely going to remain the same.

Seven clean sheets in a row speaks for itself, and Liverpool face two teams who have good Premier League records against: Wolves and West Ham. Speaking of records, if you are interested to see why Gomez is a must for any differential enthusiast this week look at Liverpool’s last seven games.

Home, away, early or late fixture, opponents, nothing fazes Liverpool this season. We are embarking on potentially watching the best Premier League performance of all time. We are getting ahead of ourselves, let’s go back to fantasy basics. There is the talking point of affordability for Gomez in your teams.

The England international is priced £1.2mil cheaper than defensive partner Virgil van Dijk, £1.8mil less than Andrew Robertson, and a whopping £2.3mil more affordable than Trent Alexander-Arnold. To give a further incentive for the Liverpool defender this week, the stats for this Double Gameweek look extremely promising.

Liverpool stats ahead of DGW24:

Liverpool have kept seven consecutive clean sheets in the Premier League, the first team in over a decade to achieve this defensive feat.
Liverpool have faced Wolves three times in the Premier League since the Midlands club was promoted last season, and they have kept a clean sheet in all these games, of which Liverpool have won all three games.
Liverpool are undefeated against West Ham in six Premier League games, scoring four goals in four out of six of these fixtures. Liverpool kept two clean sheets in these games.
Liverpool’s most recent clean sheet against blood rivals Manchester United sent them top of the leagues clean sheet tally with nine shutouts. Leicester, Sheffield United, and (surprisingly) Watford are the other teams just behind with eight clean sheets.
Amazingly, Joe Gomez has only conceded one goal all season, and that lone goal took place in GW1 when Teemu Pukki of Norwich scored at Anfield. Since being reinstated back into the Liverpool team after Matip and Lovren’s injury, Gomez doesn’t know what it is like to concede goals anymore.
Joe Gomez has started every game and played all ninety minutes in Liverpool’s most recent clean sheet haul.
Joe Gomez has obtained five bonus points in the last seven games.
Joe Gomez, however, has obtained three yellow cards in the last seven games. All these cards have been picked up away from home.

Liverpool are just being Liverpool, and there is so much confidence running through this Reds team that most people are just anticipating another two wins for Liverpool’s already ridiculous season. Gomez is now a staple in this Reds team, and the only thing that he doesn’t have on his side is offensive contributions. Virgil is good in the air, Trent and Robertson are assist merchants, and Gomez is the stability buffer next to Virgil van Dijk. Without even thinking about it too much, Gomez is going to have an extremely good Gameweek and we are there to advantage of that.
