Who is getting Bonus Points in the FPL?

Prior to the new season, with the launch of the 2015/16 BPL season, the FPL revised its rules on bonus points and the concensus was evident: Bonus was heavily weighted towards centre backs and had finally given Goalkeepers a platform to claim the holy grail of additional points. But after thirteen weeks of the season, heading into Gameweek 14, are the revised bonus points system actually distributed fairly, and do centre backs actually profit more? With a series of Graphical Aids, The Hype Train digs deep into FPL statistics in an attempt to bring light to the state of post-match point rewards.

Explaining the Bonus Points Structure via the Fantasy Premier League

How are bonus points calculated?

The three best performing players in each match according to the Bonus Points System (BPS) will receive additional bonus points. 3 points will be awarded to the highest scoring player, 2 to the second best and 1 to the third.

Examples of how bonus point ties will be resolved are as follows:

If there is a tie for first place, Players 1 & 2 will receive 3 points each and Player 3 will receive 1 point.

If there is a tie for second place, Player 1 will receive 3 points and Players 2 and 3 will receive 2 points each.

If there is a tie for third place, Player 1 will receive 3 points, Player 2 will receive 2 points and Players 3 & 4 will receive 1 point each.

When are bonus points added?

Bonus points will be awarded one hour after the final whistle of the last match of any given day.

My player's BPS has changed since the end of his game. Why?

Some BPS statistics are received after the end of the game so players may rise / fall up to an hour after the end of the days matches.

So, who is getting the bonus?

Instead of indepth text analysis, we're going to show you. Sit tight and take a look at multiple graphics that are purposed to break down the distribution of bonus points in the Fantasy Premier League.
