Weekly Wildcards: Gameweek Thirty-Six

Every week The Hype Train analyses the best wildcard options for your Fantasy Premier League teams. Historically weekly dream team’s comprise of mostly wildcard players whose selection falls under 5% of overall players, to which there is no doubt that their influence cannot be ignored. With such an abundance of points coming from the FPL’s hidden gems The Hype Train selects one player from each match in the upcoming gameweek to decide who could be the differential for your teams.

LAST WEEKS PERFORMANCE (GW 35)

Three goals from two strikers and a completely random bonus point for Danny Rose were our successes for this week, and considering we were operating from five players who actually played it was even better news. Mamadou Sakho was set to play, then, disaster as the Liverpool defender who was on the form of his life is found to have taken an illegal substance. So many people are disappointed, not just supporters, but FPL players who thought they had found a defensive gem after he picked up huge points against Everton only days before.

Shane long scored versus Villa, and Ulloa of Leicester stepped in nicely for Vardy. When picking these two for last week we knew that they would both do well, they were too easy gambles. That is the art of the gamble, calculated risk and when it does come through…calculated successes.

TEAM OF THE WEEK WILDCARDS

Wildcards unite, because this week a staggering nine of the eleven players were those in the wilderness of player selection. Strangely Hazard and Moreno are the only non-wildcards and that came as a bit of a surprise seeing as on our level we don’t rate Liverpool’s to defend or Hazard to have finally broken his goal-scoring drought. Liverpool, Southampton, and Chelsea have all been great for wildcard players this season, and it is strange seeing not one but two Man City players of whom are both wildcards. Zabaleta is the stronger option as he is playing league games whilst Sagna is rotated to play the higher stakes Champions League ties.

A glorious return for a group of players that people have turned their nose up at, and for the small percentage of you that were brave and reaped rewards, we commend you as always.
