FPL FORECAST 2016/17: Gameweek 6

Each and every week the three members of The Hype Team post their Premier League and FPL predictions in an attempt to enlighten players that might be stuck with their FPL choices and transfers. In addition, we’ll be taking on a guest for every Gameweek in the PL. On the weekly agenda are a general predictions category, a Gameweek Fantasy Premier League forecast, scout picks, and captaincy choices. For the opening weekend of the season, we welcome @insiderFPL as our sixth guest. All aboard.

Fantasy Premier League: Gameweek 6 Deadline

For the 2016/17 Premier League season, the FPL deadline will be one hour before the commencement of the week's first game. The Premier League website lists each FPL deadline, you can always ask on social media, and you can also view a real time countdown on our Weekly Hype page.

In a change from last season, the early Saturday kick off time has now been moved back to 12:30am, meaning the weekly FPL deadline will also be moving 15 minutes back.

The transfer deadline for GW6 is Saturday September 24th at 11:30am.

How does our Forecasting work?

We have taken to our Hype Team, and the FPL Community, to compete in a weekly head to head dual of wits. We are asking the questions that dominate each week in the Fantasy Premier League: who to pick, who to avoid, who to captain, and who may surprise. The 3 members of the Hype Team, and a Guest, will provide weekly insight for the Gameweek ahead. For the sake of the first edition of the Forecast, we have provided an example of what we're sending out to interest parties.

  • Premier League Fixture Prediction: As pundits, we are testing our football acumen with PL predictions (Mark Lawrenson style, only less biased, hopefully) and will be providing regular updated tables and stats in each edition of the FPL Forecast.A perfect score is worth 3 points whilst a correct result is worth 1 point.

  • FPL Gameweek Forecasting: Answering the regular questions that come up every single week in the Fantasy Premier League community that helps with identifying captaincy picks, transfers, attacking options, clean sheet potential, teams to look our for and avoid, the wildcard differential players, and general analysis and comments.

  • Scout Picks: Picking a squad of 15 for a single Gameweek, using the rules of the FPL - formations, captains and vice captains, and the player limits of 3 per club (chips will not be feature of these weekly picks)

  • Each team must pick a Captain, labelled as (c) and a Vice Captain listed as (vc).

Fixture Prediction: 2016/17 Points Table

In our predictions a perfect score is 3 points, and predicting the right outcome is worth 1 point (aka if a team wins but, you predict it, but don't get the perfect score). Below is the Gameweek and overall rundown of our Premier League predictions series for the season.

Stoke 2-1 West Brom

Sunderland 1-1 Crystal Palace

Swansea 1-3 Man City

Arsenal 0-2 Chelsea

West Ham 2-2 Southampton

Burnley 0-2 Watford

FPL Forecasting: Gameweek 6

Best GW Attacking Options:

Liverpool (H) vs Hull

Man City (a) vs Swansea

Everton (a) vs Bournemouth

Watford (a) vs Burnley

Spurs (a) vs Middlesbrough

Best GW Defensive / Clean Sheet Potential:

Liverpool (H) vs Hull

Chelsea (a) vs Arsenal

Watford (a) vs Burnley

Who would you Transfer In and Out for the Gameweek and beyond?:

IN: Kevin De Bruyne, Roberto Pereyra, Dimitri Payet, Raheem Sterling, Troy Deeney, Roberto Firmino, Yannick Bolasie, Jermain Defoe, Sadio Mane, Joel Matip, Coutinho, Vincent Janssen, Charlie Austin, and Sergio Aguero.

OUT: Santi Cazorla, John Stones, Shane Long, Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Alvaro Negredo, Wayne Rooney, Luke Shaw.

Who is the team to look out for?:

Watford: The Hornets are causing quite the stir in the Premier League after humbling Man Utd in Gameweek six, and they travel to struggling Burnley in hopes of keeping their momentum rolling. My wildcard king Troy Deeney has been in fine form as he leads a powerful Watford attack in parts unknown this season, they are truly the wildcard team at the moment so I will not be doubting their potential of another three points at Turf Moor.

Liverpool: Klopp has the Reds purring at the moment, they are scintillating going forward and are also improving defensively as each game goes on. Under the roof of the new Main Stand they will be determined to keep their high energy performances on the roll as they suppress Hull into an easy victory and three points. Liverpool have arguably the best midfield in the league this season and is capable of scoring and supplying plenty of goals among the likes of Lallana, Firmino, Coutinho, Gini, and the electric Mane who we have picked as one of our core captains this gameweek.

Spurs: Despite Kane’s injury they remain as one of the strongest units in the league and will travel to Boro in a typically understated fashion. Spurs can score big in games away from home and are also keeping a healthy number of clean sheets in the process. Kyle Walker is going to give George Friend a monumental headache at the weekend, and Son looks a real livewire at the moment. Spurs should win this match comfortably or by small margins, either way points at either side of the team in this fixture.

Chelsea: I’ve pinned them every season to upset Arsenal, and each season they deliver on that prediction. Arsene Wenger has a torrid record against the Blues and with the Gunners arch-nemesis Diego Costa in terrific goal scoring form they will be left asking the same question: how does he get away with it?

Man City: At this point they are guaranteed FPL points, Sergio is back in the team, De Bruyne is hitting form, and they are scoring goals, and just recorded their first clean sheet of the season. Swansea are in bad form and don’t look up to the challenge.

Who is the team to avoid?:

Stoke: Bottom of the table for a reason, and with Pulis visiting for his 1000th game it wouldn’t surprise me sink the team that had no faith in him.

Sunderland: Relegated Sunderland are in real trouble, especially because Operation Pardew: Forty Points is in full swing. Benteke, Townsend, and Zaha are going to run them into even more problems as the Black Cats prepare for life in the Championship.

Arsenal: For obvious reasons the Gunners seem to have to climb mountains in their pursuit of a win against Chelsea, and I am not convinced they ever have a team to beat the Blues.

West Ham: Taking up one of the remaining two spots in the relegation zone the Hammers face an in-form Southampton and a renewed striker in Charlie Austin. West Ham have real defensive issues that might cost them plenty of points this season.

GW Differential Picks:

Troy Deeney: King Deeney still conquers all differential picks and with a visit to Burnley and Watford in goal scoring shenanigans this could be another well fought win for the Hornets. There isn’t a different timeline where I wouldn’t pick Deeney in this fixture to be a wildcard option.

Steve Mandanda: Goalkeepers are doing amazing in my weekly wildcard picks, and Sunderland can’t score in an open net at the moment. Mandanda is a solid shout for a wildcard keeper, if not you can go with the more predictable Lloris. All faith in Operation Pardew: Forty Points and no faith in relegated Sunderland, a no-brainer really.

I write the wildcards for The Hype Train so there are eight more names I have chosen, worth a quick look if you want a glimpse into the rationalisation of the differential FPL options.

FPL Captaincy Pick:

(C) Sadio Mane: Driving Liverpool forward at 100mph is the winger Sadio Mane who looks to have majorly stepped up since his transfer from feeder club Southampton. Mane has been among the goals and like Lallana and Coutinho have two goals and an assist to his name so far this season. Hull City are going to be in for a handful against

(VC) Troy Deeney: The Watford skipper is very much back on the hype express as the Hornets go into a delicious set of five Premier League fixtures beginning at Burnley. With three returns out of five games I expect him to score in this fixture. Ironically I have both Heaton and Deeney in my personal FPL team, so I am banking on at least one of them performing, ideally Deeney because he has been a saviour to my wildcard picks most weeks.

Other Gameweek Comments:

The Leicester visit of Man Utd is the only fixture I am not totally convinced by, on record this is a fixture Mourinho should steer United in the direction of three points, but Islam Slimani has added an extra dimension to the Foxes that has me turning a head towards their attacking potential. A Leicester win wouldn’t shock me, neither would a United win, a draw is the most likely result but it is intriguing as this has the hallmarks of being an absolute stunning game of football with Leicester on the hunt for a return to the top four, and Mourinho picking up the pieces after three consecutive losses.

Everton haven’t got a mention until now in my comments because of last season’s fixture away to Bournemouth when their fans invaded the pitch at the Vitality Stadium when they went a goal ahead in the final moments of the game. I don’t even care about the result of this fixture as their club deserves no respect for showing Bournemouth none. The feather in the cap that night though was Junior Stanislas equalising in the final second of the game.

Who would you Transfer In and Out for the Gameweek and beyond?:

IN: Kevin De Bruyne, Raheem Sterling, Troy Deeney, Roberto Firmino, Sadio Mane, Kyle Walker, Vincent Janssen

OUT: Eden Hazard, Santi Cazorla, Mesut Ozil, John Stones

Who is the team to look out for?:

Watford - Scoring in every game so far, including seven in the last two matches, the next run of fixtures are favourable at the very least. With striking duo Ighalo and Deeney continuing to impress and Capoue shapeshifting into the Yaya of old, they are a side hard to ignore.

Liverpool - An easy win is expected this week with an abundance of attacking options. Firmino returns from an injury described as a ‘small muscle not normally used’ groin injury. Eyebrows well and truly raised. Even defensively there are signs of improvement worth consideration.

Who is the team to avoid?:

Stoke - Normally a tie against West Brom at home wouldn’t be considered a big deal, but after Chadli et als display last weekend and the capitulation of the Stoke defence, this and every opposition is now a big deal.

Sunderland - Still no signs of improvement at this stage. Offer little FPL value all round. Even Defoe is struggling to produce anything for this side. Odds on Moyes being first to face the sack must be decreasing daily.

GW Differential Picks:

Troy Deeney - So much of the attention at Watford is aimed at Capoue. But underneath it all is a consistent point scorer in Deeney. With penalties proving to be a regularity this year his goal tally will profit.

Vincent Janssen - With Kane out for a number of weeks, Janssen is the man to fill his shoes. Reasonably priced if he can produce regular returns. A favourable run of fixtures will be a perfect way for him to introduce himself to the big time.

FPL Captaincy Pick:

(C) Roberto Firmino - Back from injury and facing a weak Hull defence. Yet to see where he will feature in this rotating Liverpool attack. Potential for a brace or better in this one depending on the position he plays. Likely starting in a false nine.

(VC) Troy Deeney - Just missing out on the captaincy this week due to the quality of players around him. Penalties are rife this year and his record at them speaks for itself. An easy run of fixtures to come and priced at just 6.9mill at this time.

IN: Kevin De Bruyne, Dimitri Payet Raheem Sterling, Troy Deeney, Roberto Firmino, Sadio Mane, Kyle Walker, and Holebas of Watford

OUT: Hazard, Stone, Ibrahimovic, Friend, Negredo, and Barkley

Who are the teams to look out for?:

Spurs - They might play Man City next week, but I fancy them to go to Boro and hit the northeners hard. Karanka's still finding a winning formula, and Spurs are competent at keeping clean sheets. In Janssen and Son they also have a few differentials that could score big.

Liverpool - Defensively, they are still a horro show waiting to happen, but up top they are unmistakably good. Klopp's success is down to if he can get Sadio Mane running at defenders, the signing from Southampton is just tearing teams a part.

Leicester - Man United might suffer another league defeat against the Champions. Leicester were very impressive against Burnley and deserved to win 10-0.

Who is the team to avoid?:

Middlesbrough - Hitting a brick wall recently, Boro look there for the taking and face a run of fixtures that will concern some FPL managers. If you are playing your wildcard, twist with Negredo and Friend.

GW Differential Picks:

Troy Deeney - Our main man from the WEeekly Wildcards has a great run of fixtures. Slightly worried about yellow cards, but in truth, I'd be comfortable with Watford attackers right now. The force is with them.

Nathan Redmond - I'm torn with what will happen in the West Ham game. Southampton aren't scoring a lot of goals right now, but they are coming off a strong week. West Ham are just terrible currently and I can see Southampton frustrating them. So I'm going to give Redmond license for another week against West Ham's backline. Should have scored against Swansea.

FPL Captaincy Pick:

(C) Sergio Aguero - In our Scout Picks the Hype Team are trailing because we were too stubborn to captain Aguero. Not me, not this week.

(VC) Romelu Lukaku - Big Rom is on deadly form, with Bournemouth ideal opponents to keep his scoring form up. There are goals galore in Lukaku for the next few weeks if he stays fit and healthy.

Hazard looks to be fizzing out a bit. I’d transfer him out and invest in better forwards. I would transfer in Mane, Firmino and KDB. Liverpool’s attack has been great with difficult fixtures and I expect them to keep up their attacking form now that they face easier competition.
