FPL FORECAST 2016/17: Gamweek 25

Each and every week the three members of The Hype Team post their Premier League and FPL predictions in an attempt to enlighten players that might be stuck with their FPL choices and transfers. In addition, we’ll be taking on a guest for every Gameweek in the PL. On the weekly agenda are a general predictions category, a Gameweek Fantasy Premier League forecast, scout picks, and captaincy choices. For Gameweek 25 we welcome @KenRooney as our Forecast guest. All aboard.

Fantasy Premier League: Gameweek 25 Deadline

For the 2016/17 Premier League season, the FPL deadline will be one hour before the commencement of the week's first game. The Premier League website lists each FPL deadline, you can always ask on social media, and you can also view a real time countdown on our Weekly Hype page.

The transfer deadline for GW25 is Saturday 11th February 2017 at 11:30am.

How does our Forecasting work?

We have taken to our Hype Team, and the FPL Community, to compete in a weekly head to head dual of wits. We are asking the questions that dominate each week in the Fantasy Premier League: who to pick, who to avoid, who to captain, and who may surprise. The 3 members of the Hype Team, and a Guest, will provide weekly insight for the Gameweek ahead. For the sake of the first edition of the Forecast, we have provided an example of what we're sending out to interest parties.

  • Premier League Fixture Prediction: As pundits, we are testing our football acumen with PL predictions (Mark Lawrenson style, only less biased, hopefully) and will be providing regular updated tables and stats in each edition of the FPL Forecast.A perfect score is worth 3 points whilst a correct result is worth 1 point.

  • FPL Gameweek Forecasting: Answering the regular questions that come up every single week in the Fantasy Premier League community that helps with identifying captaincy picks, transfers, attacking options, clean sheet potential, teams to look our for and avoid, the wildcard differential players, and general analysis and comments.

  • Scout Picks: Picking a squad of 15 for a single Gameweek, using the rules of the FPL - formations, captains and vice captains, and the player limits of 3 per club (chips will not be feature of these weekly picks)

  • Each team must pick a Captain, labelled as (c) and a Vice Captain listed as (vc).

Fixture Prediction: 2016/17 Points Table

In our predictions a perfect score is 3 points, and predicting the right outcome is worth 1 point (aka if a team wins but, you predict it, but don't get the perfect score). Below is the Gameweek and overall rundown of our Premier League predictions series for the season.

Gameweek 25 Fixture Prediction

Arsenal 3-0 Hull

Man United 2-1 Watford

Middlesbrough 0-2 Everton

Stoke 2-2 Crystal Palace

Sunderland 0-1 Southampton

West Ham 3-1 West Brom

Liverpool 1-1 Spurs

Burnley 0-2 Chelsea

Swansea 2-0 Leicester

Bournemouth 1-2 Man City

FPL Forecasting: Gameweek 25

Best GW Attacking Options:

Arsenal (H) vs. Hull City Man United (H) vs. Watford

Everton (A) vs. Middlesbrough

West Ham (H) vs. West Brom

Chelsea (A) vs. Burnley

Swansea (H) vs. Leicester

Best GW Defensive / Clean Sheet Potential:

Arsenal (H) vs. Hull City Everton (A) vs. Middlesbrough

Chelsea (A) vs. Burnley

Swansea (H) vs. Leicester

Who would you Transfer In and Out for the Gameweek and beyond?:

IN: Sigurdsson, Lukaku, Coleman, Sanchez, Cresswell, Valencia.

OUT: Lallana, Grant, Defoe, Clyne.

Who are the teams to look out for?:

West Ham: Currently scoring goals the Hammers have gotten the knack of winning games without traitor Dimitri Payet getting in their way. West Brom are next up at the new London Stadium and with a huge attacking threat coming their way it might be a rough time for the Baggies.

Swansea: The new manager of the month Paul Clement understands the task ahead of the Swans, survival at all costs. Leicester, their opponents, are also in the same boat but with Sigurdsson and Llorente on the prowl for more goals it might be another wake up call to the plummeting foxes.

Who are the teams to avoid?:

Liverpool: On a run from hell, the Reds must entertain an in-form Spurs team at Anfield where they have struggled for any kind of result in recent memory. Klopp’s mean will have a real tough time of things this weekend.

Stoke City: The Eagles have a full contingent on new transfers that could all make an impact, so in my eyes the Potters are in for a real storm. Crystal Palace are a downright wildcard team, and we can’t judge them with all the new players.

GW Differential Picks:

Antonio Valencia (MUN): The right-back for Manchester United is one of Mourinho’s most favourable players, and with a goal threat from the right channel it should enable more goals against Watford.

Joel Robles (EVE): In my opinion the Toffees keeper should have retained his place in the team no matter what when Koeman took charge of Everton. Now fully reinstated as the number one option he has been a reliable source of FPL points, and with an away trip to low scoring Middlesbrough there is every chance that his good run may continue.

FPL Captaincy Pick:

Alexis Sanchez (C): The best midfielder in the Premier League is against one of the bottom three teams, albeit it is an in-form Hull City who have four points from their last two games. Arsenal have a way with struggling teams and this is the ultimate opportunity to put their own fans questions to bed. Sanchez is one of the best and has more than it takes to take down the Tigers.

Zlatan Ibrahimovic (VC): Watford at home, and with the constant train of media support for the Red Devils, this will be the ‘revenge’ that the pathetic Mourinho will be looking to get from this fixture. The BBC will celebrate, claim it was a professional performance, Mourinho’s sour face will stay have something to moan about. Move onto next week.

Other Gameweek Comments:

This week is a strange one because for the first time there is a question mark over all the teams in the top five. Spurs and Liverpool must drop points, Chelsea travel to Turf Moor that is currently a fortress, Arsenal host resurgent Hull, and Man City travel to Bournemouth who have been good at home this season. This should be another interesting week in the Premier League with more twists and turns.

Who would you Transfer In and Out for the Gameweek and beyond?:

IN: Sigurdsson, Snodgrass, Antonio, Lukaku, Baines, Coleman, Rannochia

OUT: Man United forwards, Aguero, Phil Jones, Gabriel Jesus (unless you can find a way for him to be on your bench), and maybe Alexis Sanchez if Arsenal’s form keeps dipping.

Who are the teams to look out for?:

Hull – I’ve gone for them to be narrowly beaten at Arsenal, and it’s obvious why I’ve done that. Hull have picked up points against Man United and Liverpool, whilst The Gunners have seen their form dip drastically. Arsenal usually scrapes by in these games, but don’t be surprised if Hull ruin the FPL returns of Koscielny and Sanchez.

Swansea – The Swans totally deserved a draw at the Etihad, and have been playing some fine football as of late. Leicester have been off the pace this season and could meet another defeat in South Wales.

Liverpool – The Reds love beating Spurs and I’m kind of expecting Liverpool do help Chelsea get closer to the league title with a victory over some FPL favourites in Walker, Alli, and Kane.

Who are the teams to avoid?:

West Brom – They might be good bets in the FPL, but West Ham are on form and I think the home side might just nick it in a close affair. West Brom thrashed West Ham in the reverse fixture but I’ve got question marks they’ll do it again.

Burnley – Burnley have lost to Arsenal and Man City at home and it could be Chelsea on that list this weekend. Maybe a week to look at your GK options if you’ve a Jakupovic or Mannone on the bench.

GW Differential Picks:

Henrikh Mkhitaryan (MUN) – The Armenian international had his best Gameweek yet against Leicester, and could continue his form against Watford. Doesn’t serve a purpose for GW26 or GW28 though.

FPL Captaincy Pick:

(C) Diego Costa (CHE) – In my Captaincy article this week I’ve gone with Costa as our main pick. Chelsea on any day could be major players, and an investment in Costa now means a certain captaincy choice for Gameweek 26.

(VC) Alexis Sanchez (ARS) – Captain reliable is first up for Gameweek 25 and plays a stubborn Hull side. If Costa doesn’t play (which is highly unlikely) Sanchez is the perfect deputy.

Other Gameweek Comments:

Start planning for Gameweek 28 as there are only six teams currently playing, and the 8 teams left in the FA Cup from the Premier League all have favourable fixtures.

Other Gameweek Comments:

We could be set for another high-scoring Gameweek this time around. Managers with plenty of Man Utd and Man City players could be rewarded, but they could get their comeuppance soon with those blank gameweeks fast approaching. If there was ever a week to hold on to your free transfer, it’s this one.
