FANTASY FORECAST 2017/18: FPL Gameweek 10

Ahead of each Gameweek in the Fantasy Premier League the Hype Train invites a special guest onto its Fantasy Forecast, where the three members of the Hype Team and its Guests will duel for FPL supremacy in predicting Premier League scores, as well as going head to head in picking a Scout Picks squad for the relevant Gameweek. In addition, we give our insight into who are the players to watch and those to drop, both for traditional FPL leagues and the Draft mode, as well as providing insight into captaincy picks, differentials for the week, and more. Welcome to the Forecast. All aboard.

Fantasy Premier League: Gameweek Deadline

For the 2016/17 Premier League season, the FPL deadline will be one hour before the commencement of the week's first game. The Premier League website lists each FPL deadline, you can always ask on social media, and you can also view a real time countdown on our Weekly Hype page.

How does our Forecasting work?

We have taken to our Hype Team, and the FPL Community, to compete in a weekly head to head dual of wits. We are asking the questions that dominate each week in the Fantasy Premier League: who to pick, who to avoid, who to captain, and who may surprise. The 3 members of the Hype Team, and a Guest, will provide weekly insight for the Gameweek ahead. For the sake of respecting the rules of the Forecast, we have provided an example of what we're sending out to interested parties.

  • Premier League Fixture Prediction: As pundits, we are testing our football acumen with PL predictions and will be providing regular updated tables and stats in each edition of the FPL Forecast. A perfect score is worth 3 points whilst a correct result is worth 1 point.

  • FPL Gameweek Forecasting: Answering the regular questions that come up every single week in the Fantasy Premier League community that helps with identifying captaincy picks, transfers, attacking options, clean sheet potential, teams to look our for and avoid, players to consider for the Draft game, the wildcard differential players, as well as general analysis and comments.

  • Scout Picks: Picking a squad of 15 for a single Gameweek, without any budget, using the rules of the FPL - formations, captains and vice captains, and the player limits of 3 per club (chips will not be feature of these weekly picks)

  • Each team must pick a Captain, labelled as (c) and a Vice Captain listed as (vc).

Fixture Prediction: 2017/18 Points Table

In our predictions a perfect score is 3 points, and predicting the right outcome is worth 1 point (aka if a team wins but, you predict it, but don't get the perfect score). Below is the Gameweek and overall rundown of our Premier League predictions series for the season.

Arsenal (H) vs. Swansea

Liverpool (H) vs. Huddersfield

Watford (H) vs. Stoke City

Man City (A) vs. West Brom

Chelsea (A) vs. Bournemouth

Leicester (H) vs. Everton

Newcastle (A) vs. Burnley

Best GW Defensive / Clean Sheet Potential:

Who would you Transfer In and Out for the Gameweek and beyond?:

IN: Jamaal Lascelles, Richarlison, Leroy Sane, Alvaro Morata, Harry Kane.

OUT: Romelu Lukaku

Who are the players that might make the difference this Gameweek in the Draft?:

Liverpool Midfielders

Leicester Forwards

Watford Defenders

Arsenal Midfielders

Arsenal Forwards

Who are the teams to look out for?:

Man City: On current form, unstoppable.

Arsenal: Striking up some form, and with Ozil, Sanchez, and Lacazette finally united the goals should now be coming thick and fast for the Gunners.

Watford: Marco Silva is working voodoo magic at the Hornets this season, and with Stoke unable to find any form of their own it wouldn’t be a surprise to see Watford climb even further up the table at the end of the weekend.

Who are the teams to avoid?:

Man United: After seeing what Spurs did to Liverpool the Red Devils might be quaking in their boots with Harry Kane looking to add to his tally. Also, after a loss to Huddersfield and a draw to Liverpool, the Old Trafford boat is rocking.

West Ham: Slavan Bilic is under pressure, and I think this will be his last game in charge of West Ham. Palace fought against Chelsea, and they nearly had the chance to bury Newcastle, and in a competitive mood anyone can beat West Ham.

GW Differential Picks:

Joe Gomez (LIV): With all the talk around Liverpool’s defensive options it can’t get any worse than it did against Spurs when Lovren was hooked out of the limelight after failing at clearing the pass which led to Kane setting up Son at Wembley. A Liverpool clean sheet will be the last thing on people’s minds, so it is worth the high-risk gamble for a differential this week. Gomez is going to oust Lovren out of his position, Klopp doesn’t have any other choice after what he witnessed in the capital last weekend.

Kiko Femenía (WAT): The Hornets look like they have no sign of slowing down under Marco Silva, and with Kiko moved forward to a wing-back in a 3-4-3 formation he was causing Chelsea a mountain of problems, and if given the same role against Stoke he should be even more influential.

FPL Captaincy Picks:

(C): Mohamed Salah (LIV): Despite all of Liverpool’s shortcomings, one thing is clear, the Egyptian is key to any sort of revival that is going to happen on Merseyside. Klopp welcomes his close friend David Wagner to Anfield, and the danger man for the Reds will be Salah who has still been scoring goals despite a lack of team form.

(VC): Sergio Aguero (MCI): Returning to the City side after an injury, the Argentine was influential in dispatching Burnley, and West Brom wouldn’t cause too many problems for Pep’s team.

Other Gameweek Comments:

I don’t see much clean sheet potential this week, too many ‘close’ games that are hard to call. There is also an interesting game between Leicester and Everton in which both clubs don’t have managers, so it could be a scoring free for all.

Best GW Defensive / Clean Sheet Potential: Chelsea (a) vs Bournemouth Man City (a) vs West Brom Arsenal (H) vs Swansea Watford (H) vs Stoke

Who would you Transfer In and Out for the Gameweek and beyond?: IN: All the cheap ones..Aguero, Sanchez, Hazard. Richarlison, Morata. OUT: Lukaku, Kane (one week only), Vardy.

FPL Captaincy Picks: (C): Alvaro Morata: With the mighty Kane out of the picture for this weekend we are forced to look elsewhere. Alvaro may have started slowly on his return from injury but the goals will come. He has the explosive ability to rack up double figures every other game. Bournemouth is certainly a favourable one.

(VC): Mo Salah: I’m still not sure why I see his name in the most transferred out column almost every week. Consistency is not a term often associated with Liverpool but it’s one wee can use for Mo. If it wasn’t for my terrible experiences with Liverpool captaincies it would be on him.

FPL Hype Picks: Gameweek 10 Formation: 3-4-3

Arsenal (H) vs. Swansea

Liverpool (H) vs. Huddersfield

Chelsea (A) vs. Bournemouth

Spurs (A) vs. Man United

Best GW Defensive / Clean Sheet Potential:

Arsenal (H) vs. Swansea

Man City (A) vs. West Brom

Chelsea (A) vs. Bournemouth

Who would you Transfer In and Out for the Gameweek and beyond?:

IN: Jamaal Lascelles, Richarlison, Leroy Sane, Alvaro Morata, Eric Choupo-Moting, Doucoure, Nick Pope, Stephen Ward, Mohamed Salah, Eden Hazard

OUT: Romelu Lukaku, Phil Jones, Henrikh Mkhitaryan, Ben Davies

Who are the players that might make the difference this Gameweek in the Draft?:

Mame Diouf (STK) - Playing in the forward role at last, Diouf has been in some good form and with three good fixtures on the horizon, now might be the time to snap him up for a few Gameweek's.

Kiko Femenia (WAT) - On the flip side of Diouf, you have a good differential choice in defence with Kiko at Watford. Watford have some good games to further develop the points that Richarlison and Doucoure have been amassing.

Who are the teams to look out for?:

Man City: Not so sure about Aguero having played the full 120 minutes against Wolves in the League Cup, but have been impressed with City's defensive organisation. I opted for Stones and Otamendi and a midfielder, and it has paid me back handsomely recently.

Burnley/Newcastle: This week's dead-set 0-0 draw is between Burnley and Newcastle. Both sides are hard to break down and it will be a repeat of when Huddersfield came to town. Defensive options form both teams are cheap and still overlooked.

Spurs: United aren't all that, and Harry Kane is in form. Eriksen is in form. Alli is coming into form. They're hard to break down, and have won every game on the road. Something has to give, and I think it will be United's defence, as they lose to Spurs at Old Trafford.

Watford: A clear run of fixtures to build on Richarlison's hype is just what FPL players need right now to plug a hole in midfield.

Who are the teams to avoid?:

Stoke: I've got Choupo-Moting in my FPL team right now, but I can't let that cloud the judgement I have that Stoke have been piss-poor so far this season (on the most part). Watford are the real deal this season and might spank Mark Hughes's side.

West Ham: Bilic has to contend with Wilfried Zaha and unlike Newcastle, doesn't have the defensive capabilities to handle the heat.

West Brom: Man City have a good record at West Brom's own turf, and Aguero's hunting a record. Might be another long afternoon for Pulis's men.

GW Differential Picks:

Nick Pope (BUR): Burnley have proven that they are still the same side, even without Heaton and Keane. Nick Pope has done fabulously since coming into the team and might have a quiet night against Newcastle.

Eden Hazard (WAT): Lowly selected, and has notched his first assist of the season. If Morata and Hazard can get on the same page, it could be another big goal-scoring afternoon for Chelsea at Bournemouth.

FPL Captaincy Picks:

(C): Alvaro Morata (CHE): Last week wasn't to be for Morata and his FPL faithful, but I expect more minutes and a better outcome at Bournemouth, to establish himself again as the force he was a few weeks ago.

(VC): Harry Kane (TOT): Kane is probably going to be captain or vice for the next few weeks in most my Scout Picks teams. He is fixture proof and banging them in for fun.

Other Gameweek Comments:

Recent weeks have been quite dire for most FPL players, and I don't think that this is going to change much with this round of fixtures. Too many coin tosses between players, form, fixtures, and the unexpected.

My gut is telling me to put in Roberto Firmino for some strange reason, but I don't think I have the heart for that right now. He's not scored in 6 games, but might come good (maybe).

FPL Forecasting: Gameweek 10

Best GW Attacking Options:

Arsenal, Liverpool, Man City

Best GW Defensive / Clean Sheet Potential:

Chelsea, Man City, Burnley

Who would you Transfer In and Out for the Gameweek and beyond?:

IN: Otamendi, Salah, Richarlison and if you’re not one of the 40% that own him Harry Kane

OUT: Mkhitaryan, Kolasinac, Hegazi (why is he so highly owned?) maybe Davies if he doesn’t start this weekend

Who are the players that might make the difference this Gameweek in the Draft?:

Ozil is under the radar and seems to be back in form. Ramsey also had a great GW9. Arsenal play Swansea at home so either player could return some points. Richarlison looks like a gem of a player.

Who are the teams to look out for?:

Aside from the obvious Man City, Chelsea and Liverpool have some nice upcoming fixtures.

Burnley, Brighton, Bournemouth all have good fixtures over the next 6 GWs and offer budget options in defence and midfield.

Watford’s fixtures also look good for some of their attacking fantasy assets

Who are the teams to avoid?:

Stoke, West Ham, Huddersfield for their poor form.

West Brom face City, Chelsea, and Spurs in the next 4 games

Also avoid Leiceter/Everton for the moment having just sacked their managers

GW Differential Picks:

Yoshida £5.1m is a BPS magnet and one of the lowest owned SOU defenders at 4.7% ownership and on 8,2,8,8 points in last 4 matches. Southampton play Bournemouth away from home in a game which should be low scoring.

Alberto Moreno is on 2.6% ownership is only £4.5m is in an attacking Liverpool side.

While Liverpool have looked terrible defensively away from home they have only conceded one goal at Anfield

FPL Captaincy Picks:

(C): Salah – Liverpool can be devastating going forward as we have seen in the game v Maribor. With 5 goals and 2 assists already in the PL this season Mo Salah looks a great option for captaincy for GW10. We haven’t yet seen him score a brace but he certainly is capable of doing it if he can put away more of chances he gets.

(VC): Jesus – Man City are scoring for fun at present but lessons must be learned from GW9 and rotation among their star players. For this reason we will go for Gabriel Jesus as VC seeing as he was substituted in the 82nd minute while Aguero and Sterling played 120 mins

Other Gameweek Comments:

Be wary of City rotation after Cup game went to extra time and penalties.

Phil Jones a slight doubt but did travel with the squad to Swansea in the cup.

FPL Hype Picks: Gameweek 10
