FANTASY FORECAST 2017/18: FPL Gameweek 30

Ahead of each Gameweek in the Fantasy Premier League the Hype Train invites a special guest onto its Fantasy Forecast, where the three members of the Hype Team and its Guests will duel for FPL supremacy in predicting Premier League scores, as well as going head to head in picking a Scout Picks squad for the relevant Gameweek. In addition, we give our insight into who are the players to watch and those to drop, both for traditional FPL leagues and the Draft mode, as well as providing insight into captaincy picks, differentials for the week, and more. Welcome to the Forecast. All aboard.

Fantasy Premier League: Gameweek Deadline

For the 2016/17 Premier League season, the FPL deadline will be one hour before the commencement of the week's first game. The Premier League website lists each FPL deadline, you can always ask on social media, and you can also view a real time countdown on our Weekly Hype page.

How does our Forecasting work?

We have taken to our Hype Team, and the FPL Community, to compete in a weekly head to head dual of wits. We are asking the questions that dominate each week in the Fantasy Premier League: who to pick, who to avoid, who to captain, and who may surprise. The 3 members of the Hype Team, and a Guest, will provide weekly insight for the Gameweek ahead. For the sake of respecting the rules of the Forecast, we have provided an example of what we're sending out to interested parties.

  • Premier League Fixture Prediction: As pundits, we are testing our football acumen with PL predictions and will be providing regular updated tables and stats in each edition of the FPL Forecast. A perfect score is worth 3 points whilst a correct result is worth 1 point.

  • FPL Gameweek Forecasting: Answering the regular questions that come up every single week in the Fantasy Premier League community that helps with identifying captaincy picks, transfers, attacking options, clean sheet potential, teams to look our for and avoid, players to consider for the Draft game, the wildcard differential players, as well as general analysis and comments.

  • Scout Picks: Picking a squad of 15 for a single Gameweek, without any budget, using the rules of the FPL - formations, captains and vice captains, and the player limits of 3 per club (chips will not be feature of these weekly picks)

  • Each team must pick a Captain, labelled as (c) and a Vice Captain listed as (vc).

Fixture Prediction: 2017/18 Points Table

In our predictions a perfect score is 3 points, and predicting the right outcome is worth 1 point (aka if a team wins but, you predict it, but don't get the perfect score). Below is the Gameweek and overall rundown of our Premier League predictions series for the season.

Newcastle 1-0 Southampton

West Brom 0-2 Leicester

West Ham 0-1 Burnley

Chelsea 3-0 Crystal Palace

Arsenal 1-2 Watford

Stoke 0-3 Man City

FPL Forecasting: Gameweek 30

Best GW Attacking Options:

Liverpool (A) vs. Man United

Swansea (A) vs. Huddersfield

Newcastle (H) vs. Southampton

Leicester (A) vs. West Brom

Burnley (A) vs. West Ham

Chelsea (H) vs. Crystal Palace

Watford (A) vs. Arsenal

Spurs (A) vs. Bournemouth

Man City (A) vs. Stoke City

Best GW Defensive / Clean Sheet Potential:

Liverpool (A) vs. Man United

Swansea (A) vs. Huddersfield

Newcastle (H) vs. Southampton

Leicester (A) vs. West Brom

Chelsea (H) vs. Crystal Palace

Man City (A) vs. Stoke City

Who would you Transfer In and Out for the Gameweek and beyond?:

IN: Lukasz Fabianski (GK) Ben Davies (DEF), Riyad Mahrez (MID), Jordan Ayew (FW)

OUT: Nick Pope (GK) Hector Bellerin (DEF), Raheem Sterling (MID), Oumar Niasse (FW)

Who are the players that might make the difference this Gameweek in the Draft?:

There are lots of potential in Chelsea defenders, Newcastle defenders, Leicester defenders, Liverpool defenders, Watford midfielders, Man City midfielders, and Burnley forwards.

Who are the teams to look out for?:

Man City: Champions-elect are against Stoke, nothing more needs to be stated.

Chelsea: Easy home game against Palace should be easy enough for FPL managers to figure out the rest.

Liverpool: I have that feeling that the Reds are going to pull up some trees at Old Trafford against their bitter rivals. They have the form, the goals, the momentum, and with Mo Salah in the ascendancy it could be a huge game for the Merseyside club.

Who are the teams to avoid?:

Manchester United: Nobody wants to go up against Mane, Salah, and Firmino.

Arsenal: Currently in the nosedive of all nosedives, the repeat score of this fixture last season saw the Hornets sting the Gunners after a Kaboul free kick made the Emirates a library. Nobody should be backing Arsenal as it appears to be getting worse to worse, and plus, they are playing in the Europa League on the Thursday before.

GW Differential Picks:

Troy Deeney against ‘that’ Arsenal team is a tempting option with the Gunners current form going down the toilet. Virgil van Dijk looks a great bet at Old Trafford. A Chelsea defender like Moses also has bags of potential against Crystal Palace.

FPL Captaincy Picks:

(C): Harry Kane – The England international loves scoring at Bournemouth and has in recent seasons scored a hat-trick there. Compared to Liverpool, Spurs have the better fixture on paper to bank on Harry Kane being the best captaincy option in GW30.

(VC): Mohamad Salah – No matter what you always back Salah. I will probably regret putting the King of Egypt as my vice-captain this week.

Other Gameweek Comments:

All the big clubs for FPL options play away from home this week. I expect lots of defensive returns this week, and for Liverpool to surprise everyone by beating Manchester United.

Who would you Transfer In and Out for the Gameweek and beyond?:

IN: Jordan Ayew, Mahrez, Dubravka, Lossl, Butland, Ake (for BGW), Stanislas, KDB

OUT: Pope, Sterling, Niasse and Everton assets in general

Who are the players that might make the difference this Gameweek in the Draft?:

Lascelles, Brighton Midfielder's, Swansea defensive assets, and maybe trust a cheeky Palace player against an out of form Chelsea.

Who are the teams to look out for?:

Liverpool: If they attack well enough, they should win at Old Trafford, no problem.

Newcastle: The visit of Southampton could be a massive afternoon for Newcastle in their bid to fend off relegation. They're good enough defensively to hold out for a victory.

Crystal Palace: Not saying to put in any of their players, but they could scare Chelsea, for sure.

Who are the teams to avoid?:

Chelsea/Arsenal: Both have lost 4 out their last 5 league matches.

Everton: Erratic.

West Ham: Erratic.

West Brom: The clock is ticking on Pardew and I'm hearing MVP's WWE theme song in my head whenever WBA are brought up in conversation.

FPL Captaincy Picks:

(C): Harry Kane – Captaincy has become systematic in the FPL, so I'll be following the gravy-train until the end of the season by the looks of it, so Kane wins out this week.

(VC): Mohamad Salah – The Liverpool game will go one of two ways, and if it goes the way in which Liverpool's attack breaks Man United down, who else is going to be amongst the points?

Other Gameweek Comments:

All the big clubs for FPL options play away from home this week. I expect lots of defensive returns this week, and for Liverpool to surprise everyone by beating Manchester United.

FPL Forecasting: Gameweek 30

Best GW Attacking Options:

Leicester City, Chelsea, Spurs, Manchester City

Best GW Defensive / Clean Sheet Potential:

Manchester United, Newcastle United, Leicester City, Chelsea, Manchester City

Who would you Transfer In and Out for the Gameweek and beyond?:

IN: Probably next week I’ll be mostly tripling up on 3 Liverpool assets in contention to GW-31, If Arsenal regain their lost form then I could an Arsenal attacker and a Watford defender in GW-32.

OUT: Nick Pope (Tom Heaton could be fit to start in GW-32), West Brom defender after GW-31.

Who are the players that might make the difference this Gameweek in the Draft?:

Eden Hazard, Pierre Emrick Aubameyang, Willian.

Who are the teams to look out for?:

Huddersfield have some good run of fixtures coming up until GW34.

Spurs will definitely score goals this week, but a cleansheet is a doubt.

Manchester City will be looking continue their form and move closer towards the title.

Who are the teams to avoid?:

Southampton: Currently in a bad run of form with just a single win in last 5.

West Brom: They are sitting in the bottom 3 with just 1win in their last 6.

GW Differential Picks:

Eden Hazard, Glenn Murray, Seamus Coleman, Johann Berg Gudmundsson

FPL Captaincy Picks:

(C) Harry Kane: Faces a Bournemouth side who have conceded 8 in their last 4, plus the English forward has 6 goals in his 4 Premier League matches against Bournemouth and with Salah facing Manchester United, Kane is the ideal option.

(VC) Sergio Aguero: Aguero was rested midweek in the UCL and will be looking to continue his good form, plus he does have a good record against the Potters scoring 8 goals in his 8 Premier League matches against them.

Other Gameweek Comments:

It will be interesting to see whether Mohamed Salah will be able to continue his run of returns for the FPL managers this gameweek against Manchester United. Chelsea will be looking to bounce back after 2 successive defeats. Lastly, I expect Arsenal to win this gameweek after a run of 3 defeats.
