FANTASY FORECAST 2017/18: FPL Gameweek 36

Ahead of each Gameweek in the Fantasy Premier League the Hype Train invites a special guest onto its Fantasy Forecast, where the three members of the Hype Team and its Guests will duel for FPL supremacy in predicting Premier League scores, as well as going head to head in picking a Scout Picks squad for the relevant Gameweek. In addition, we give our insight into who are the players to watch and those to drop, both for traditional FPL leagues and the Draft mode, as well as providing insight into captaincy picks, differentials for the week, and more. Welcome to the Forecast. All aboard.

Fantasy Premier League: Gameweek Deadline

For the 2016/17 Premier League season, the FPL deadline will be one hour before the commencement of the week's first game. The Premier League website lists each FPL deadline, you can always ask on social media, and you can also view a real time countdown on our Weekly Hype page.

How does our Forecasting work?

We have taken to our Hype Team, and the FPL Community, to compete in a weekly head to head dual of wits. We are asking the questions that dominate each week in the Fantasy Premier League: who to pick, who to avoid, who to captain, and who may surprise. The 3 members of the Hype Team, and a Guest, will provide weekly insight for the Gameweek ahead. For the sake of respecting the rules of the Forecast, we have provided an example of what we're sending out to interested parties.

  • Premier League Fixture Prediction: As pundits, we are testing our football acumen with PL predictions and will be providing regular updated tables and stats in each edition of the FPL Forecast. A perfect score is worth 3 points whilst a correct result is worth 1 point.

  • FPL Gameweek Forecasting: Answering the regular questions that come up every single week in the Fantasy Premier League community that helps with identifying captaincy picks, transfers, attacking options, clean sheet potential, teams to look our for and avoid, players to consider for the Draft game, the wildcard differential players, as well as general analysis and comments.

  • Scout Picks: Picking a squad of 15 for a single Gameweek, without any budget, using the rules of the FPL - formations, captains and vice captains, and the player limits of 3 per club (chips will not be feature of these weekly picks)

  • Each team must pick a Captain, labelled as (c) and a Vice Captain listed as (vc).

Fixture Prediction: 2017/18 Points Table

In our predictions a perfect score is 3 points, and predicting the right outcome is worth 1 point (aka if a team wins but, you predict it, but don't get the perfect score). Below is the Gameweek and overall rundown of our Premier League predictions series for the season.

Who would you Transfer In and Out for the Gameweek and beyond?:

IN: Ederson, Kompany, Sterling, Jesus

OUT: De Gea, Nicolas Otamendi, Riyad Mahrez, Roberto Firmino (the last one really hurt)

Who are the players that might make the difference this Gameweek in the Draft?:

Burnley defenders, and defenders from the Southampton/Bournemouth game, and the Huddersfield/Everton clash. Newcastle defenders. Just, defenders really.

Who are the teams to look out for?:

Liverpool: Oh, Mane Mane, Salah Salah, and Bobby Firmino, but we sold Coutinho.

Spurs: Comfortable home fixture versus Watford, so why not.

Manchester United: I expect Jose Mourinho to rub salt in the wounds of Arsene Wenger.

Who are the teams to avoid?:

Leicester: Over the last ten weeks only Jamie Vardy has proven to be a trusted source of FPL points, and Crystal Palace are a lively, energetic team that will most likely prove to be more of a challenge than anticipated. Mamadou Sakho is cranking up his beast mode gears.

Arsenal: Manchester United really know how to rain on your parade, so expect Jose to get the last laugh over Arsene Wenger.

GW Differential Picks:

In this week’s differentials I have chosen Ashley Barnes as the best differential this week. The Burnley forward has six goals from his last eight games and is showing no signs of stopping.

Head to the website to see the other nine names I have gone for.

FPL Captaincy Picks:

(C) Mohamad Salah – Do I even need to explain at this point?

(VC) Harry Kane – Not Mo Salah, but the next best option.

Dusan Tadic: A real talent that’s yet to show up in the current season. With relegation very much on the cards it’s time for him to step up.

FPL Captaincy Picks:

(C) Harry Kane: With Mo Salah likely to be rested this is a big opportunity to make a dent in the Egyptians Golden Boot lead.

(VC) Leroy Sane: Surely he gets a start this week. The Young Player of the Year will use the shabby West Ham back line to show off his talents once more.

Who are the teams to look out for?:

Burnley: A win against Brighton puts the squeez on Arsenal in 6th place. It looks like this may be the case this weekend.

Crystal Palace: They're coming up against a lot of my FPL players and winning, so it could be another one of them weeks.

Newcastle: Clean sheets and goals look like they're on the agenda this week and we can be the team to relegate the Baggies. Please let it happen.

Who are the teams to avoid?:

Chelsea: Walking on egg shells isn't my style in the FPL. Has been infuriating watching Chelsea disintegrate as good options this season.

Arsenal: A massive Europa League tie awaits next week in Madrid. This visit to Old Trafford doesn't really offer anything for Wenger's squad.

FPL Captaincy Picks:

(C) Raheem Sterling – Just got a hunch that Sterling might outscore Salah again this week, which has been the case the last couple of months.

(VC) Mohamed Salah – He's breaking the FPL points record this weekend. Brilliant stuff.

FPL Hype Picks: Gameweek 36

Formation: 3-4-3

DEF: Virgil van Dijk

DEF: Kyle Walker

Fixture Prediction: Gameweek 36

Liverpool 3-1 Stoke

Burnley 1-0 Brighton

Crystal Palace 2-1 Leicester

Huddersfield 1-1 Everton

Newcastle 2-1 West Brom

Southampton 2-2 Bournemouth

Swansea 1-1 Chelsea

West Ham 0-3 Man City

Man United 2-0 Arsenal

Spurs 3-0 Watford

FPL Forecasting: Gameweek 36

Best GW Attacking Options:

Liverpool (H) vs Stoke

Man City (a) vs West Ham

Spurs (H) vs Watford

Best GW Defensive / Clean Sheet Potential:

Burnley (H) vs Brighton

Man United (H) vs Arsenal

Spurs (H) vs Watford

Who would you Transfer In and Out for the Gameweek and beyond?:

IN: Christian Eriksen, Harry Kane, Gabriel Jesus, Raheem Sterling, Vincent Kompany

OUT: Willian, Marcos Alonso, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang (not as nailed as we thought!)

Who are the teams to look out for?:

Liverpool, Man City and Spurs (I would not be surprised if each of them scored at least three goals against their respective opponents)

Burnley (I’m predicting a clean sheet for them this weekend)

Who are the teams to avoid?:

Stoke, West Ham, Watford (especially their defences!)

Arsenal (I anticipate a typically resolute Mourinho home display to stifle the Gunners)

GW Differential Picks:

Chris Wood, Jordan Ayew, Kenedy, Benjamin Mendy, Steve Mounie, Danny Ings

FPL Captaincy Picks:

(C) Mohamed Salah – After an unstoppable performance against Roma I can’t see past the Egyptian despite the possibility he could be rested.

(VC) Harry Kane – Write Harry off at your peril. Despite his recent dip in form and the goal claim controversy, the Spurs striker remains an absolute goal machine.

Other Gameweek Comments:

It goes without saying that DGW37 should be at the back of your mind when making your transfers for this week.
