MLS Fantasy 2018: Gameweek 14 - Player Picks

Welcome to a second article for The Hype Train by @Sanchez_FPL, looking back at players who have performed in his team from last week, as well as looking forward to this weekend's round of fixtures. In this article we will be breaking down his team from Gameweek 13 and then going over why he is picking a certain team for the upcoming round of fixtures for Double Gameweek 14. All aboard.

MLS Fantasy: Gameweek Deadline

For the 2018 MLS Fantasy season there is a 'Rolling Lockout', which means you can make substitutions and transfers until the second a player's game kicks off, which means you can chop and change your lineup as any Gameweek progresses.

You can view the schedule and a real time Gameweek deadline countdown clock (in the London GMT timezone) on our dedicated MLS Fantasy page.

Serious changes were needed after Gameweek 13:

To be honest, there were serious changes needed between the end of Game week 13 and the start of Gameweek 14. This is because, Game week 14 sees Double Game weeks for the likes of Toronto FC, Seattle Sounders, Houston Dynamos, New York Red Bulls, Orlando City SC and Los Angeles FC.

A lot of my predictions came off, I went for a team last week with heavy influence from the two New York sides, Houston, Orlando and Seattle. Most, of it paid off, Carlos Vela, Cristian Higuita and Quioto from Houston all came in for me, scoring 30 points (10 each) between them.

I made the mistake of picking Maloney from Columbus and Lade from the Red Bulls. None of the two played, so I got burned by that. I will not pick Seattle for the foreseeable future, I got burned by them now too many times.

Looking ahead to Gameweek 14:

The chops and changes have took place and I can now look ahead to Gameweek 14 of MLS Fantasy with renewed hope and expectations. Seeing as it is a Double Game week for all the franchise sides mentioned above, it was obvious that I was going to pick from them.

Los Angeles Galaxy, there are three players from them, Ola Kamara, Joao Pedro and Jonaton dos Santos. The next trio is Brad Guzan, Miguel Almiron and Josef Martinez of Atlanta United, who are on the up in the Eastern Conference.

Conor Sparrow of Real Salt Lake is my backup keeper for Game week 14, he is joined by Justin Glad and another Joao, Plata that is. Rounding out our Double Gameweek contingent are Maynor Figueroa, Cano and Anton Nedyalkov of the ever improving FC Dallas.

Hopes for Double Gameweek 14:

I need to do way better than I have been doing, especially from last week, when I only bagged a mediocre 64 points. This has gone on for the last couple of weeks and I need this to stop.

I need for the players to pick things up this weekend, especially as I've gone with almost exclusively Double Gameweek players. If I don't get a score of at the very least 70+ points this week, I will scream and fling objects at the TV.

I hope, it doesn't come to it, but if needs must, I will!

Conclusion:

This weekend, we are are putting focus on all of my Double Gameweek players to bring home the goods for me this week. Josef Martinez will be my captain this week, Atlanta United play New England Revolution away and Philadelphia Union at home this week.

Hopefully, this week I will be happy and bring home the points, what are you hoping for the week ahead.
