FANTASY FORECAST 2018/19: FPL Gameweek 9

Ahead of each Gameweek in the Fantasy Premier League, The Hype Train invites a special guest onto its Fantasy Forecast, where the three members of the Hype Team and its Special Guests will duel for FPL supremacy in predicting Premier League scores, as well as going head to head in picking a Scout Picks squad for the relevant Gameweek. In addition, we give our insight into who are the players to watch and those to drop, both for traditional FPL leagues and the Draft mode, as well as providing insight into captaincy picks, differentials for the week, and more. Welcome to the Forecast. All aboard.

Fantasy Premier League: Gameweek 9 Deadline

For the 2016/17 Premier League season, the FPL deadline will be one hour before the commencement of the week's first game. The Premier League website lists each FPL deadline, you can always ask on social media, and you can also view a real time countdown on our Weekly Hype page.

How does our Forecasting work?

We have taken to our Hype Team, and the FPL Community, to compete in a weekly head to head dual of wits. We ask the questions that dominate each week in the Fantasy Premier League: who to pick, who to avoid, who to captain, and who may surprise. The three members of the Hype Team, and a Guest, will provide weekly insight for the Gameweek ahead.

For the sake of respecting the rules of the Forecast, we have provided an example of what we're sending out to interested parties that will feature throughout the season.

  • Premier League Fixture Prediction: As pundits, we are testing our football acumen with PL predictions and will be providing regular updated tables and stats in each edition of the FPL Forecast. A perfect score is worth 3 points whilst a correct result is worth 1 point.

  • FPL Gameweek Forecasting: Answering the regular questions that come up every single week in the Fantasy Premier League community that helps with identifying captaincy picks, transfers, attacking options, clean sheet potential, teams to look our for and avoid, players to consider for the Draft game, the wildcard differential players, as well as general analysis and comments.

  • Scout Picks: Picking a squad of 15 for a single Gameweek, without any budget, using the rules of the FPL - formations, captains and vice captains, and the player limits of 3 per club (chips will not be feature of these weekly picks)

  • Each team must pick a Captain, labelled as (c) and a Vice Captain listed as (vc).

Who are your essential Gameweek player picks?:

Kane, Salah, Hazard, Aguero, Lacazette…you know, all the differentials.

Who are the players that might make the difference this Gameweek in the Draft?:

Everton midfielders. Arsenal attackers. Wolves defenders. Chelsea defenders. Fulham forwards.

Who are the teams to look out for?:

Man City: Well, would having explain it be a waste of typed letters?

Liverpool: Huddersfield have leaked goals without fixing their problems defensively this season. The Reds are sweating on a few key players but it shouldn’t stop them from opening up the league’s second worst defence.

Bournemouth: The Cherries have been scoring goals, and the Coastline Clash has always been an entertaining affair, so I expect even more goals.

Who are the teams to avoid?:

Brighton: The Seagulls have proven to be a home-centric team so far this season, and I have a funny feeling that Newcastle will pick up their first win of the season.

Chelsea: This is a tough fixture at an unfavourable time-slot. Manchester United found their hunger in their last fixture and could prove to be a stick in the mud for the Blues.

GW Differential Picks:

Jamie Vardy could be an interesting choice.

Martin Dubravka could have a big week.

Gylfi Sigurdsson could continue his great form.

FPL Captaincy Picks:

(C): Harry Kane – The England international has found some good form during the international break, helping England beat Spain with two assists for his strike partners. West Ham look prone to leak some goals, and Spurs have had the best of West Ham in recent history. I could still flip my decision to pick Salah as captain last minute.

(VC): Mohamad Salah – The Egyptian has a prime fixture to bounce back to peak form, and it could be a great time for him to get back on the right side of FPL points.

Other Gameweek Comments:

The international break will no doubt what cause rotation, especially with Champions League midweek. Their will be a few shock inclusions to come, mark my words.

FPL Forecasting: Gameweek 9

Best GW Attacking Options: Chelsea, Man City, Arsenal, Fulham.

Best GW Defensive / Clean Sheet Potential: Chelsea, Man City, Wolves, Bournemouth, Newcastle.

GW Differential Picks: Ayoze Perez: Should get the start with Rondon on the sidelines. Brighton have conceded almost 2 goals per game so far this season. Could be worth a punt in the draft leagues.

FPL Captaincy Picks: (C) Sergio Aguero: Rested again during the international break and playing Burnley...that's enough.

(VC) Eden Hazard: The 2019 POTY is probably the correct choice of captain, however having been burned by this move in the past I’m sticking with Aguero.

Who are your essential Gameweek player picks?:

Lacazette: Following the form.

Jimenez: Following that cut price deal.

Sigurdsson: Following that hype.

Dubravka: Following that 'wildcard activated' differential.

Who are the teams to look out for?:

Newcastle: After a run of dreadful fixtures, the rest button has been set ahead of Gameweek 9, the date Newcastle begin their season.

Liverpool: The club have been off the pace in attack, but I expect that end to against Huddersfield. A riot is on the cards.

West Ham: The big shock of the weekend looks likely to be at London Stadium. Can easily see West Ham nabbing a result against Spurs.

Who are the teams to avoid?:

Bournemouth: No Fraser? No King? Might be a week to avoid, especially against a rival club in Southampton, even if the visitors aren't very good at this 'football' thing.

Leicester: Arsenal have their number at The Emirates.

FPL Captaincy Picks:

(C): Alexandre Lacazette – The main man at Arsenal is central to everything and looks an assured bet at continuing his fine run in front of goal against a Leicester side that aren't as dogged as they used to be.

(VC): Eden Hazard – Like with Lacazette, it is hard to ignore the form heading into a home game against Man United.

Other Gameweek Comments:

This is the week I have played my Wildcard, and nope, I've not even once looked at it since putting in players who were rising in price. I am anticipating a blood bath this weekend, the stuff of your darkest nightmares.
