POSITIONAL RANKINGS 2018/19: FPL Gameweek 10

October 27, 2018

| The Hype Train |

With so many transfer trends and varying levels of form impacting the strategies of FPL players around the world, ahead of each Gameweek we will be providing our top ten selections in each position (GK, DEF, MID, FOR) for standalone rounds of games. Our player selections will be based purely on our opinion of those players on our watchlist any given week, with may positively sway FPL or Draft players with their own thoughts and decisions heading in to a Gameweek. All aboard.

Fantasy Premier League: Gameweek 10 Deadline

For the 2016/17 Premier League season, the FPL deadline will be one hour before the commencement of the week's first game. The Premier League website lists each FPL deadline, you can always ask on social media, and you can also view a real time countdown on our Weekly Hype page.

FPL Gameweek 10: Goalkeeper Selections

1: Alisson (LIV) - £5.6mil vs. Cardiff (H)

2: Ben Foster (WAT) - £4.5mil vs. Huddersfield (H)

3: Alex McCarthy (SOU) - £4.5mil vs. Newcastle (H)

4: Kepa Arrizabalaga (CHE) - £5.5mil vs. Burnley (A)

5: Berndt Leno (ARS) - £4.8mil vs. Crystal Palace (A)

A huge surprise at the number one goalkeeper position is Alisson for Liverpool. After FC Real Cardifflona terrorised Spurs for ninety minutes who had to bring on Victor Wanyama just to cope with the flood of Bluebird shirts, it is an audacious move to entrust the Brazilian to keep the score down for Liverpool and make it a respectable score. Elsewhere, we look at the four teams up against the four teams struggling for goals themselves…Huddersfield, Newcastle, Burnley, and Crystal Palace.

FPL Gameweek 10: Defender Selections

1: Andrew Robertson (LIV) - £6.4mil vs. Cardiff (H)

2: Dejan Lovren (LIV) - £4.9mil vs. Cardiff (H)

3: Virgil van Dijk (LIV) - £5.9mil vs. Cardiff (H)

4: Trent Alexander-Arnold (LIV) - £5.1mil vs. Cardiff (H)

5: Jose Holebas (WAT) – £4.8mil vs. Huddersfield (H)

6: Marcos Alonso (CHE) – £7.0mil vs. Burnley (A)

7: Antonio Rüdiger (CHE) – £5.9mil vs. Burnley (A)

8: Hector Bellerin (ARS) – £5.4mil vs. Crystal Palace (A)

9: Matt Doherty (WOL) – £4.8mil vs. Brighton (A)

10: Benjamin Mendy (MCI) - £6.3mil vs. Spurs (A)

More shocks as even more Liverpool players dominate the top of the list, so much that we are going for the predicted defensive line-up. Nine Premier League games and over eight hundred minutes without conceding it is a record we can see continuing even after the Cardiff game. Holebas makes up the only over player at home this weekend. The rest are heavy hitting teams playing away from home such as Arsenal and City who are in favourable fixtures. Bellerin is a notable mention as he has rekindled some of his attacking potential, and with Palace who haven’t scored at home this season it could be a double-edged sword for the Spaniard this weekend.

FPL Gameweek 10: Midfielder Selections

1: Mohamad Salah (LIV) - £12.8mil vs. Cardiff (H)

2: Sadio Mane (LIV) - £9.9mil vs. Cardiff (H)

3: Eden Hazard (CHE) - £11.4mil vs. Burnley (A)

4: Roberto Pereyra (WAT) - £6.2mil vs. Huddersfield (H)

5: Gerard Deulofeu (WAT) - £5.4mil vs. Huddersfield (H)

6: Anthony Martial (MUN) - £7.3mil vs. Everton (H)

7: Ryan Fraser (BOU) - £6.0mil vs. Fulham (A)

8: James Maddison (LEI) - £7.0mil vs. West Ham (H)

9: Mesut Özil (ARS) - £8.4mil vs. Crystal Palace (A)

10: André Schürrle (FUL) - £6.0mil vs. Bournemouth (H)

Midfielders pick themselves this week, based on a combination of form and fixtures as you would imagine. Liverpool sit top of the roost with Cardiff at home so there is no debate there, and Chelsea go to Burnley which means that if, and that is a big if, Eden Hazard plays he sits comfortably in third. Watford have two players to consider, Pereyra the established player, and Deulofeu the wildcard. Beneath that is a scramble of players that could be rotated in any position and it wouldn’t make a blind bit of difference to their potential. All the players from rankings six to ten are in-form and have respectable fixtures, not perfect fixtures, but respectable at that.

FPL Gameweek 10: Forward Selections

1: Roberto Firmino (LIV) - £9.3mil vs. Cardiff (H)

2: Alexandre Lacazette (ARS) - £9.7mil vs. Crystal Palace (A)

3: Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang (ARS) - £10.8mil vs. Crystal Palace (A)

4: Calum Wilson (BOU) - £6.5mil vs. Fulham (A)

5: Sergio Aguero (MCI) - £11.3mil vs. Spurs (A)

Firmino against Cardiff at Anfield is the logical number one pick, and just below him the pair of Arsenal strikers travel to Crystal Palace in what should be a game with obvious goals in it. Another game with obvious goals is Bournemouth travelling to Craven Cottage to play Fulham. The London club hasn’t kept a clean sheet all season. Lastly, we Aguero propping everyone up at fifth because of his incredible record at Spurs makes it a great pick despite the fixture problem.

Missing out:

Aleksandar Mitrovic (FUL) - £6.9mil vs. Bournemouth (H)

Romelu Lukaku (MUN) - £10.9mil vs. Everton (H)

Raúl Jiménez (WOL) - £5.7mil vs. Brighton (A)

Harry Kane (TOT) - £12.5mil vs. Man City (H)

Jamie Vardy (LEI) - £9.0mil vs. West Ham (H)
