MLS Fantasy 2019: Week 11 Fantasy Forecast

Ahead of each Week in MLS Fantasy the Hype Train provides its informative Fantasy Forecast, where members of the Hype Team will duel for MLS supremacy in predicting scores, as well as going head to head in picking a Scout Picks squad for the relevant round of games. In addition, we give our insight into who are the players to watch and those to drop, as well as providing insight into captaincy picks, differential players for the week, and more. Welcome to the Forecast. All aboard.

MLS Fantasy: Week 11 Deadline

For the 2019 MLS Fantasy season there is a 'Rolling Lockout', which means you can make substitutions and transfers until the second a player's game kicks off, which means you can chop and change your lineup as any Week progresses.

How does our Forecasting work?

The Hype Team will compete in a weekly head to head dual of wits. The 3 members of the team will provide weekly insight for the Gameweek ahead, providing score predictions, a Scout Picks squad that follows MLS Fantasy rules, and will provide what insight they can for the fixtures at hand.

  • MLS Fixture Prediction: As pundits, we are testing our football acumen with MLS predictions and will be providing regular updated tables and stats in each edition of the MLS Forecast. A perfect score is worth 3 points whilst a correct result is worth 1 point. An incorrect score is worth nothing.

  • Blank Box: We've left an open space for the team to write that helps with the Gameweek hustle; identifying captaincy picks, transfers, attacking options, clean sheet potential, teams to look our for and avoid, differential players, as well as general analysis and comments.

  • Scout Picks: Picking a squad of 15 for a single Week, within their budget limitations, using the rules of MLS Fantasy - formations, the player limits of 3 players-per-club, and each team must pick a captain.

MLS Fantasy: Week 11 Insight

8 teams have a Double Gameweek:

Atlanta United

Toronto

Columbus Crew

LA Galaxy

Chicago Fire

New England Revolution

New York Red Bulls

Montreal Impact

Double Gameweek Fixtures:

Atlanta: TOR (H), ORL (H) Toronto: ATL (A), PHI (H) Columbus: LA (H), LAFC (H) LA Galaxy: CLB (A), NYCFC (H) Chicago: NE (H), MIN (H) New England: CHI (A), SJ (H) NY Red Bulls: MTL (H), DAL (A) Montreal: RBNY (A), CIN (A)

Teams to bank on:

Montreal Impact - Defensively strong, I'll be having one of Lovitz or Diallo as an autoroo pick this week, just in case lightning strikes a 3rd time for The Impact in a Double Gameweek

Atlanta United - A brace of home games is not to be ignored. Robinson, Martinez and probably Pirez are worthy inclusions.

LA Galaxy - There are a trio of locked picks from LA, with Polenta, dos Santos and Zlatan, all raring to go.

Teams to avoid:

Sporting KC - After watching them destroy teams to start the season, Sam isn't having any of it when I say that SKC can play good football. They've let us both down, pretty much every week in Fantasy this season, and with D.C. United away this week, there should be a purge of their players for this week.

New England - This team lost 6-1 a Philadelphia Union. I'll be stacking the deck against them this week, no doubt about it.

New York Red Bulls - I'm not overly convinced by their form, though their win over LA Galaxy has begun to turn my head. Connor Lade might be worth an autoroo birth, but that's it for me.

Columbus Crew - 5 losses in a row. Can't score, so defensive assets playing against them is wise. Carlos Vela may yet be a good shout against this lot.

Essential Picks:

The first names in my team are no surprise...

Pozuelo, Martinez, Polenta, Robinson, Zlatan and dos Santos are solid locks.

Gameweek Strategy:

I'd start with 2 defensive assets on the bench for autoroo.

Lade (RBNY), Lovitz (MTL) and Calvo (CHI) are what I'm deciding between right now.

Captaincy Picks:

Read below as I provide my take on the Martinez vs. Ibrahimovic vs. Pozuelo question this week.
