FANTASY FIVE PICKS 2019/20: FPL Gameweek 2

Ahead of each Gameweek of the FPL season, we have introduced a new Community feature to our website, Fantasy Five's. The premise is quite simple, The Hype Team and a weekly guest will compete against each other in picking 5 players - a Goalkeeper, Defender, Midfielder, Forward and a captaincy pick that is a wildcard that can be of any position or club - the winner of the week is the person with the most points at the end of the Gameweek. The only other rule is that the 4 first picks have to be players from different clubs. All aboard.

Fantasy Premier League: Gameweek 2 Deadline

For the 2019/20 Premier League season, the FPL deadline will be one hour before the commencement of the week's first game. Our website provides a real-world countdown timer for the the upcoming Gameweek, whilst you can read our latest Fantasy articles from the season on our 2019/20 FPL weekly hype sub-section.

Gameweek 2 - Fantasy 5 Picks: Sam Austin

Gameweek Insight:

"I can't see Watford scoring against Everton who dogged out a 0-0 with Crystal Palace. Last season Everton were good at home, so I expect the dialogue to continue with a Hornets without their sting.

My two Liverpool picks are Virgil van Dijk who goes up against his old club. He is looking formidable at both ends of the pitch and he is rotation proof. Mo Salah is my captain, and it will be like that for a while as long as the Egyptian King is in good form. Arsenal's Aubameyang is an automatic pick with an easy home tie versus Burnley, and my team is rounded off with a differential pick. Pedro of Chelsea has been unlucky not to score against United, or Liverpool in the Super Cup. The Spaniard looks irreplaceable and I expect him to be rotation proof against Mount and Barkley."

Gameweek 2 - Fantasy 5 Picks: Phil Jones

Gameweek Insight:

Phil has opted to bank on a Merseyside combination in defence, with template duo, Jordan Pickford and Andrew Robertson, favoured against teams in Southampton and Watford, with both failing to score last week.

For the second week on the spin, Wilfried Zaha gets the nod, with the Ivorian winger expected to make his first start of the season, with Palace travelling to newly-promoted Sheffield United.

In attack, Callum Wilson managed an assist against Sheffield, whilst Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang gets the the armband ahead of a home game against Burnley.

Gameweek 2 - Fantasy 5 Picks: Robert Austin

Gameweek Insight:

"Ederson is my Goalkeeper and the shot-shopper who I intent on setting and forgetting this season. City could get a clean sheet in any game, so why not against Spurs? The corresponding fixture last season in the Premier League was a tight 1-0 game. I can see the same here again.

With Trent Alexander-Arnold not starting Liverpool's UEFA Super Cup win against Chelsea, I'm favouring the right-back ahead of Robertson this week, and it helps that TAA has set-piece potential on his side too. Southampton looked a shambles last week at Burnley, so I'm hopeful of a clean sheet for The Reds.

Gylfi Sigurdsson had Everton's clearest chances at goal during Everton's goalless draw at Crystal Palace and I favour the Icelandic midfielder and his set-piece potential to come good in Everton's first home game of the season.

As a Newcastle fan, I can sense danger in our fixtures a mile away. I called the 1-0 Arsenal win perfectly last weekend, and now my spidey-senses are tingling about a Norwich win. Newcastle tend to travel to newly-promoted teams during Gameweek 2, and we never score. We lost 1-0 at Huddersfield 2 years ago, courtesy of an Aaron Mooy strike, and Kenedy missed a penalty in a 0-0 draw at Cardiff. Norwich play fast, expansive football and they looked a real threat in periods at Anfield. Pukki is good value for points.

With Kane at City, Sterling typically blanking the week after a return and Salah playing 120 minutes in the Super Cup, Aubameyang lines up as the perfect captaincy pick this week. I'm tempted for a one-week move to get Auba in for Kane, and then making the same move for Gameweek 3."

Gameweek 2 - Fantasy 5 Picks: Take The Hit

Twitter Handle: @FPL_TakeTheHit

Gameweek Insight:

Jordan Pickford is picked in 3 of the 4 teams this week, with our guest going for the Pickford-Robertson combination in defence. In midfield, Ryan Fraser, who was booked for simulation last weekend in a 1-1 home draw against Sheffield United, has been backed to make good on a poor start to the season during an away trip to Aston Villa.

Teemu Pukki, who scored at Anfield during the opening day of the season, and his Norwich side host Newcastle, a team that look off the pace and could be made to pay against Norwich's pressing game.

Raheem Sterling gets the armband after a hat-trick against West Ham during Gameweek 1. Spurs pose a tricky test for City, though Sterling and City appear to be rotation proof as the early season picks begin to take form.
