FANTASY FIVE PICKS 2019/20: FPL Gameweek 4

Ahead of each Gameweek of the FPL season, we have introduced a new Community feature to our website, Fantasy Five's. The premise is quite simple, The Hype Team and a weekly guest will compete against each other in picking 5 players - a Goalkeeper, Defender, Midfielder, Forward and a captaincy pick that is a wildcard that can be of any position or club - the winner of the week is the person with the most points at the end of the Gameweek. The only other rule is that the 4 first picks have to be players from different clubs. All aboard.

Fantasy Premier League: Gameweek 4 Deadline

For the 2019/20 Premier League season, the FPL deadline will be one hour before the commencement of the week's first game. Our website provides a real-world countdown timer for the the upcoming Gameweek, whilst you can read our latest Fantasy articles from the season on our 2019/20 FPL weekly hype sub-section.

Gameweek Insight:

"This week belongs to teams in the top six, especially as there are lots of contesting fixtures with teams in the ‘Other 14’ bracket. The likes of Newcastle/Watford, West Ham/Norwich, Palace/Villa, Everton/Wolves, and Leicester/Bournemouth are fixtures that could throw up a few surprises.

The only match where I think there may be lots of goals, or contrasting returns is Norwich’s visit to the London Stadium. This fixture sees two of the Premier Leagues emerging strikers go head-to-head with Pukki (NOR) and Haller (WHU) both looking to continuing their good form. I favour Haller over Pukki in this fixture because he has the qualities to hold of Norwich defenders, and has better players around him to supply him chances. West Ham usually disappoint me in every way, normally because I always overestimate, or underestimate, their capabilities. I’m going with the bigger differential to leave ‘xGS’ state mongers red faced.

Elsewhere is straight forward thinking, I see Sheffield struggling at Chelsea, giving Frank Lampard the perfect opportunity to get the first clean sheet of the campaign. Kepa is the worlds most expensive goalkeeper, and if there is anyone that I would bank on this week it would be the Spaniard. In defence I am only looking at Man City who are going to pass Brighton off the pitch, leaving Laporte (MCI) with little to do all game. Midfield sees me give the nod to Sadio Mane, he usually scores the poacher type goals at Liverpool, and I see him being the main threat against what I anticipate will be two banks of five defend against the Reds.

Lastly, my captain is Raheem Sterling (MCI). The Englishman has been in ridiculous form this season, and having scored in every single Gameweek so far, you would like to think that momentum is irrefutable. City will have lots of chances against Brighton, and I can see Sterling owners extremely confident heading into this Gameweek."

Gameweek Insight:

A popular feature this week will be a Man City double up, with Phil opting for Ederson for defensive coverage and Raheem Sterling with the armband. Everton are once again fancied for a clean sheet against Wolves at home, whilst Mo Salah's good home form is enough for Salah to feature as Phil's midfield pick.

With Phil being a Chelsea fan, he's been heavily impressed by Tammy Abraham. The Englishman scored a brace away at Norwich last weekend and Phil believes a repeat performance is on the cards this weekend at home against Sheffield United.

Gameweek 4 - Fantasy 5 Picks: Robert Austin

Gameweek Insight:

"Gameweek 4's preparations have been all over the place on my end. I'm dreadfully close to playing my wildcard, but would love to hold out until the international break.

For once week only, I'd love to bank on Martin Dubravka, who plays for my beloved Newcastle. The Toon really shaped up at Spurs and a repeat of this at home to bottom-placed Watford should (in theory) yield a second clean sheet of the season.

I'm on the Digne hype this season and given the dynamics of the Gameweek, the left-back looks good value against a Wolves side fresh off their Europa League fixture against Torino.

The combination of Sterling and Salah looks essential this season, with my preference being Mo Salah this week with the armband despite a Man City home game. Salah's in incredible solo form and any attacking returns will be reliant on The Egpytian, whilst Sterling will come in and out points a lot more.

Aubameyang is my final pick as my Forward option. The Gabon international scored twice in this fixture last year, with the combination of Spurs being tragically poor and Arsenal being at home, should mean goals, goals, goals for the £11.0 million attacker."

Gameweek Insight:

"It serves as a no-brainer to me to have 2 from Manchester City and the obvious is Raheem Sterling as my Wildcard captain. With 5 goals in his opening 3 games and a very good record at the Etihad, Raheem looks good to continue his early excellent form.

Kevin De Bruyne is my other from City. He's been excellent so far this is season, creating more chances (14) and more big chances (6) than any other player in the league, cumulating in 4 assists. I can see him getting on the scoresheet in this game.

In goal, I've gone for Tommy Heaton. Villa have looked quite solid so far, with a strong defensive performance against Spurs for the majority of the game and a solid 2-0 win against Everton. Palace have had the least amount of attempts at goal of any side (17) and have created the second lowest amount of big chances (3), so Villa should have a good chance at keeping them at bay.

Lucas Digne is my defender of choice simply because I think, along with Trent Alexander Arnold, he's one of the best value defenders in the game with him being on set-pieces and playing so high up for Everton. Wolves are bottom for big chances created (2), so the chances of a clean sheet aren't too bad, but even if Wolves score, with Digne, you've always got a chance with attacking returns.

Last but not least, up front, Teemu Pukki. I've gone with the 'Pukki Party' for this one given that WHU are conceding just over an average of 4 'big chances' a game and Pukki is sticking his chances away with aplomb."
