MLS Fantasy 2019: Week 27 Fantasy Forecast

Ahead of each Week in MLS Fantasy the Hype Train provides its informative Fantasy Forecast, where members of the Hype Team will duel for MLS supremacy in predicting scores, as well as going head to head in picking a Scout Picks squad for the relevant round of games. In addition, we give our insight into who are the players to watch and those to drop, as well as providing insight into captaincy picks, differential players for the week, and more. Welcome to the Forecast. All aboard.

MLS Fantasy: Week 27 Deadline

For the 2019 MLS Fantasy season there is a 'Rolling Lockout', which means you can make substitutions and transfers until the second a player's game kicks off, which means you can chop and change your lineup as any Week progresses.

How does our Forecasting work?

The Hype Team will compete in a weekly head to head dual of wits. The 3 members of the team will provide weekly insight for the Gameweek ahead, providing score predictions, a Scout Picks squad that follows MLS Fantasy rules, and will provide what insight they can for the fixtures at hand.

  • MLS Fixture Prediction: As pundits, we are testing our football acumen with MLS predictions and will be providing regular updated tables and stats in each edition of the MLS Forecast. A perfect score is worth 3 points whilst a correct result is worth 1 point. An incorrect score is worth nothing.

  • Blank Box: We've left an open space for the team to write that helps with the Gameweek hustle; identifying captaincy picks, transfers, attacking options, clean sheet potential, teams to look our for and avoid, differential players, as well as general analysis and comments.

  • Scout Picks: Picking a squad of 15 for a single Week, within their budget limitations, using the rules of MLS Fantasy - formations, the player limits of 3 players-per-club, and each team must pick a captain.

Fantasy Insight: Gameweek 27

What I'm mostly interested in this week:

The crunch tie between Portland and Sporting should be a good watch if you're up at 3:30am in the UK. The NYC game is a big one. Torrent's side could win the East with one final push ahead of Philadelphia and Atlanta.

The play-off race in the West is also just great. I've got a feeling that Zlatan and LA are going to crash out on the final day of the regular season, just like they did last season.

Teams to bank on:

NYCFC & New England - both offer a lot of attacking value and I wouldn't be surprised if this was a high-scoring draw to keep both in the play-off mix.

LAFC - Can't see them losing a couple on the bounce, though they're a shade lighter in terms of depth without Vela and Kaye.

Portland - They look best set for a defensive return in what should be a tight affair between a pair of sides fighting for their play-off futures.

FC Cincinnati - I won't be backing any of their players in my Fantasy squads, but I've got an inkling that they'll get a result against Toronto.

Is there room for Vela this week?:

There are enough premium midfielders to have you covered this week, so there's no need to worry over Vela's potential involvement at Orlando.

Captaincy Pick:

I'm going with Valeri. Portland are strong at home, and with goals in back-to-back games, Valeri is the king of a solid Fantasy return.

I don't fancy captaining in the first game either and might wait on LAFC's team news before deciding if Vela comes in. If not, it'll stick on Valeri.
