Ahead of each round of Premier League games The Hype Train analyses the best left-field player options for your Fantasy Premier League teams. With such an abundance of points coming from the FPL’s hidden gems The Hype Train selects one player from each Premier League match in the upcoming Gameweek to decide who could be the differential that sets your team apart. Weekly Differentials (GW14)

The Champions League has returned, and we are all ramping up to the hectic Christmas fixture schedule. Games are going to fly by as FPL managers manage the midweek deadlines, and this is one of the last times where people will have time to breathe between Gameweek's. This week’s differentials is going on an attacking rampage, with a cameo from a criticised Liverpool defender. For the fourteenth time this season we give you ten players to give you a different option for the upcoming Gameweek.

Gameweek 14: Differentials

NEW/MCI: Gabriel Jesus (MCI, FWD, £9.5mil, 1.8% ownership)

BUR/CRY: Chris Wood (BUR, FWD, £6.2mil, 1.1% ownership)

CHE/WHU: Willian (CHE, MID, £7.1mil, 3.0% ownership)

LIV/BHA: Dejan Lovren (LIV, DEF, £5.3mil, 0.5% ownership)

TOT/BOU: Lucas Moura (TOT, MID, £7.0mil, 4.0% ownership)

SOU/WAT: Danny Ings (SOU, FWD, £6.0mil, 4.0% ownership)

NOR/ARS: Alexandre Lacazette (ARS, FWD, £9.3mil, 2.1% ownership)

WOL/SHU: Adama Traoré (WOL, MID, £5.2mil, 4.4% ownership)

LEI/EVE: Ayoze Pérez (LEI, MID, £6.2mil, 7.0% ownership)

GW14: Differential Highlights

Danny Ings (SOUTHAMPTON vs. Watford):

The last time we selected Danny Ings was during the 9-0 demolition by Leicester at St Marys, and we even captained Ings as well to make matters worse. It is hard to a see a repeat happening, and Ings has rekindled his form with two goals in his last two games. Southampton host Watford in what could be a rare chance to gain a win at home for the Saints. Honestly, without Ings, Southampton don’t stand a chance of staying in the Premier League.

Gabriel Jesus (Newcastle vs. MAN CITY):

Sergio Aguero has been ruled out for the next month, and that gives a window for Jesus to get a run of games under his belt. This isn’t a downgrade though; City have the money and depth for situations just like this. Jesus has scored in three of his four starts for City this year, and after a crushing loss to Villa, their opponents Newcastle must be shuddering at the thought of the Champions arriving on Tyneside.

Lucas Moura (SPURS vs. Bournemouth):

Jose Mourinho has a brain, because after a long exodus from regular minutes, Lucas Moura has been reinstated back into the starting eleven. We believe that Moura was a huge talking point of Pochettino’s sacking at Spurs. The Brazilian was in the form of his life and he was benched for Harry Kane in the Champions League final. He has been hard done by for not starting, and after Mourinho’s first league game in charge it is refreshing to see patience rewarded for Moura who scored in that game against West Ham.

Key Differential: Chris Wood (BURNLEY vs. Crystal Palace)

This isn’t the first time that we have picked Chris Wood as differential captain this year, the New Zealander was our GW1 captain against Southampton, but it didn’t go exactly the way we wanted. Wood was regular in the team, and for the first six weeks it was the Ashley Barnes show for Burnley. The Clarets have climbed the table after two consecutive wins, and sit in seventh position going into this Gameweek, which is six places higher than their opposition this weekend: Crystal Palace

The Eagles have had a tough time of late, mostly due to their horrid fixture schedule. Palace have played Man City, Arsenal, Leicester, Chelsea, and most recently Liverpool in their last five games. Roy Hodgson’s team are winless in five games, and they have also conceded exactly two goals in each of these five games. To make matters worse for Palace is that both Ashley Barnes, and this week’s differential captain Chris Wood, are in scoring form. After a slow start for Wood, the striker has found the back of the next six times in the last eight games. Here are a reminder of the goals that Wood has scored this season.

GW6: 2 goals vs. Norwich (H)

GW7: 1 goal vs. Aston Villa (A)

GW9: 1 goal vs. Leicester (A)

GW12: 1 goal vs. West Ham (H)

GW13: 1 goal vs. Watford (A)

This fixture is a classic case of a perfect storm brewing. Burnley are in form, their strikers are scoring, and their opposition are in bad form and conceding lots of goals and struggling to score them too. The Clarets have lost two games this season at Turf Moor, which came at the hands of Liverpool and Chelsea. These are two teams that can go to grounds and pick up points, but Burnley are beating the teams that you would expect them too at home. Southampton, Everton, Norwich, West Ham, and Watford are the current scalps collected by Sean Dyche on home soil and believe it not they have yet to draw a home game this season.

Burnley have also put out a statement at Turf Moor, of these five wins against relative competition, Nick Pope has kept a clean sheet in all these fixtures. The writing on the wall does not look encouraging for FPL managers looking to bring in Palace assets for their good run of fixtures.

Burnley vs. Crystal Palace is one of them fixtures where FPL managers will look at all the underlying stats and still not be convinced about them, especially because there are a plethora of comfortable home games featuring the in-form teams. Frankly, this is a fixture that is being actively ignored unless you have Nick Pope in goal, and with the Clarets fixtures getting tougher you may also start looking for alternatives in the next few weeks. This is a differential fixture that could throw anything at us, which is why it is the one we are focusing on for this week’s captaincy. Everything points to Woods and Barnes keeping up their scoring form.
